  • Very large dancing solar Groot, only really works in very direct sun or in growing lights indoors, fits in with my succulents!
This Groot dancing solar powered guy is very cute and works well. It is very big, I was quite surprised by the size of it. Its about 8" inches tall in total and 2-3 inches wide at the base. I have never been able to make him dance in the windows with regular light, but I put him in my growing area with my succulents and he soaks up the growing lights and dances like crazy when they are on during the day. His lower body swings back and forth about an inch for his "dancing" mechanism. Make sure light source is coming from above as the solar strip is inside the base at his "feet" and blocked from sun on the sides. The dancing is very cute because it looks like the dancing of baby groot in the end of the first Guardians movie. He is overall a cute addition to my indoor succulent garden and dances around in the grow lights. A little bigger than I was both wanting and expecting, but nothing to major to ruin the purchase. ... show more

  • No dancing Groot
Everything appeared just like the picture but no amount of sunshine will make Groot dance.

  • Not entirely what I expected but works.
When the bobble head version of Groot came out I thought, "why hasn't someone done a solar version so he can really be a dancing Groot?" Then I saw this and had to buy. It does work when you put it under light or the sun just like any dancing flower, however, the bottom portion is what moves side to side, so the head remains stationary. The arms also don't move - not a big deal but not digging the side to side motion of the body. It also makes a loud clicking noise when he moves. Not a problem to me but it was annoying the snot out of my husband so had to turn it off to keep him from throwing it out the window. In summary: this is a neat product, but I would have designed it differently like a traditional dancing flower. ... show more

  • Is great at first, until he gets some sunlight
I loved Groot at first, but after about a month and a half, he got old. The problem with Groot is how he is designed. The head his held still while the body rocks back and forth on a pivot point at the neck. There is a magnet connected to the bottom of his body that is hidden in the cup casing. The little solar panel powers a copper coil that is below the magnet and causes the body to rock back and forth. The body then rocks back and forth hitting the sides of the slit in the cup cover and bouncing back going the reverse direction it was rocking a second ago. The issues is that he ticks or whacks as fast as the second hand of a clock and is considerably louder. I would say he is slightly louder as someone clicking their loud pen, but his noise travels a bit further than the pen. He can be heard easily and loudly throughout a small room. When exposed to direct sunlight, he marches double time making a plastic whack sound approximately two times a second. Groot was not the quiet little fella that I wanted to get. Note: picture is overexposed to show details hidden by cup cover ... show more
