These chews are not ideal for small dogs, senior dogs, dogs with bad teeth, or dogs that just don't like anything very hard. This is not a treat that they will be able to bite pieces off of, or chew up in any fast manner. These are intended to last for day's at a time while the dog slowly wears it down from chewing. So, if you need something that will taste great to your dog, and as long as they are patient enough to appreciate this type of chew, then your doggo's will love them. This is the extra long size too. I know there is a step down, which i believe is the medium ones. And i think there is one more size even smaller. These are 10 inches +/-, so small paws won't be able to hang onto these, i don't think.😊 What i appreciate about them is that my Australian shepherd really seems to like the taste. And thankfully, unlike many others, these do not have an over powering smell. Of course, they don't smell the greatest if you stick one up to your nose, but they aren't going to be offensive just by giving one to your dog, you know? Big bonus, they don't make a mess either. If your dog is a big drooler, then you may have quite a bit of that to clean up, but the chews themselves stay fairly tidy. The ends turn a whitish color as they chew and it gets softer. Then it slowly gets shorter and shorter. Quick note, i had a blue heeler that i gave a few of these chews too. I ended up having to take them away from her though, because for whatever reason, she repeatedly tried to swallow them whole. So, of course she would choke, and it was a repetitive process. She would be fine for the first hour or so, chewing on it. Then, as if she just got impatient with it, she would try swallowing it. So always monitor your dogs when giving them chews like this. Especially new ones. I've not had any other dogs to do this though. A Pitt Bull, a terrier mix, and Australian shepherd all did great with them. My little daushund mix insisted on taking one as well, but as i knew, he just hid his because he couldn't do much chewing on something so large. I got him something much better suited to his size. I recommend this product to anyone with medium and large sized doggo's, that enjoy large, long lasting chews. From what I've seen, most dogs love them, and enjoy long chew sessions with them. They do tend to hide them when finished chewing so they can chew them later. Just so you know. If your dog has one and it disappears within the same day, he most likely did not eat it. I recently gave these collagen dog chews a try for my 50 lb black Australian cattle dog mix, Delphi, and she absolutely went nuts for them! She usually enjoys collagen sticks from another brand, but this was on a whole new level of excitement for her. The moment she got her paws on one, she was in doggy heaven. Pros: Single Ingredient: Made from 100% pure Angus beef skin, sourced from free-range Brazilian cattle, these treats are about as natural as it gets. It's comforting to know exactly what Delphi is consuming. Dental Health: The chews help in gently scraping plaque and tartar from Delphi's teeth, which is a big plus for maintaining her oral hygiene. Energy & Joint Support: It's great to see that these treats support joint health and boost energy, keeping Delphi active and lively. Cons: Pricey: These treats are on the expensive side. While the quality is excellent, it does feel like a premium price for an above-average treat. Short Chew Time: Delphi polished off the first stick in less than 10 minutes. While she enjoyed every second, these aren't ideal if you're looking for a longer-lasting distraction. Distinctive Smell: Contrary to the claim, these chews do have a distinctive smell. It's not overwhelming, but it's noticeable. Overall, despite the higher cost, shorter chew time, and the smell, the enthusiasm Delphi showed for these treats makes them a worthwhile addition to her treat rotation.
