This is such a cool bug catching set. Well worth the price for sure. My kiddo loves bugs, but neither one of us enjoy touching them, which is why this set with the little bug catching tool, net, and tweezers to arrange leaves inside the container is perfect for us. The magnifying glass piece works great for viewing their faces up close. The tray in the bottom comes out for easy washing, and it has little crevices to put in water or dirt or whatever you'd like to help keep your bug comfortable while observing it for a day or two. My child is 3 and I help him out with using the tools and whatnot, but he's learning so much by observing bugs and has lost his fear of spiders entirely because he can see them make webs up close and even respects what the bugs each do differently for our environment. I think he'll enjoy this set for many years and many bugs to come! It's not very big, but big enough to house one or two bugs for a small period of time. It's plastic, but durable. We've dropped it on cement a few times and it still is in great shape. The lid snaps for a tight enclosure too, which means no bugs randomly escaping. It has plenty air holes, so no need to worry about the bug's safety with such a good locking lid either! Very cool bug catching kit compared to others out there. We love it!

The only con, it's a little short for a bug box. The pros outweigh the con though. The bug box length is great for spiders and other bugs to crawl around. The insert that sits on the bottom is great to put a little water in. My son loves that the box opens on different ends. The magnifying glass and small microscope have made viewing small insects an absolute blast for him! I really like the rounded tweezers that closes around small bugs. It helped us to catch some big ants for him to study. This set comes with the butterfly kit also. He is very excited to watch the butterfly larvae hatch. We're just waiting for them to be mailed to us since it takes a few weeks for delivery.
