  • Love love LOVE LOVE
We got this for my 7 year old daughter who loves the Dog Man books. I was looking for an age-appropriate graphic novel with a strong female lead and WOW did this deliver. The story is fast paced and engaging. My daughter loved the jokes and silliness. She thought Jinx was very funny and sassy and Nancy was brave. Can’t wait for the next book where we hope to meet Nancy’s nemesis!! ... show more

  • Love Love LOVE
This book is so much fun!!! The animation is AMAZING and the story carries you rapidly along a journey full of twists and turns and excitement. I can't wait to read this story to our daughter and watch her get lost in the beautiful artwork! Also, you can have fun solving the TWO cyphers (one up front - an ode to the author's wife, it seems - and one in the back). Can't recommend this book enough! ... show more

  • Engaging, Witty, Creative, and Enjoyable
As a parent and an aunt to multiple young children, I found this book extremely fun and engaging. This book is special for many reasons but the two striking features were how well-written it is and its artistic and creative animations which captivate its audience. It is well-suited for young-children who enjoy suspenseful and funny stories. ... show more

  • Loved this book more please!
I struggle to get my daughter (age 8) to sit down and read. She read this in one sitting. Please add to the series- she immediately asked for the next one!

  • My daughter loves this book!
This is the first book she’s content to sit quietly on her own, but the cutest is when she reads it to me! She’ll even do voices and tone. I hope another one comes out soon!

  • So much snot
Cute adventure story for the dog-loving kid. Word structure is simple and illustrations are colorful. Perfect for middle elementary. My only criticism is there is soooo much snot going on. Yuck!

  • Fun Frolic in Graphic Style
A fun graphic mystery adventure with a tenacious protagonist who happens to be the greatest girl detective, Nancy Spector Monster Detective is a gem. The invisible man has lost his dog Spot, so he turns to Nancy for help in finding him. There is just one problem that will complicate this case: Spot is also invisible. Nancy is a great detective and she knows detectives never give up. She goes on a mission with her grumpy dog Jinx (who is comic relief to Nancy's serious nature) is against the mission from the onset. The professor (the invisible man) tags along. Nancy searches the professor's house and Spot's invisible dog house for clues, taking notes. Soon the trio sets off following Spot's scent. Jinx begins sneezing and Nancy figures he may be allergic to Spot's invisible fur. The more Jinx sneezes, the closer they are to their quarry. A fun map of Nancy's island features Frankenstein Monster's monster's castle, ice horns, deadly whirlpools and a pirate cove. What reader can resist a cartoon map? Illustrations by Pham are energy-charged and will appeal to an reader who loves superhero comics. Nancy Spector Monster Detective is fun frolic full of whimsy and creativity. Recommended for graphic novel readers, mystery lovers, comic book lovers and perfect for reluctant readers. Grades 4 and up. ... show more
