  • Rescue with anxiety - instant success
Size: L
We recently brought home a Rescue, now training for her job as my ESA. She’s a little over a year ago a half old, extremely intelligent, and great at her work in home. Outside my small 2 person family is a completely different issue. She has extreme anxiety, to the point of seeming aggressive. She truly isn’t- it’s a phobia. Anyone who can wait for an episode to be over gets to see her at her sweetest. She’s even more afraid of vehicles. We don’t have to be near anyone for her to panic, she just has to see them. I got this mask because throughout her time here she’s done good at so much of her training, and I noticed if I could keep her from seeing the people or moving cars she was zoning on, it’s much easier to settle her down. Her last family used a shock collar, which isn’t really good for a dog’s anxiety and could possibly be the reason for her fear response. Back to this mask. I expected her to need to work up to getting used to wearing it when we go outside, and dislike it at best-case-scenario. I walked a completely different dog today. Even at night. She doesn’t struggle, attempt to remove, or freak out in any way about wearing it. I could not have expected such immediate change for her so soon. This is exactly what she needed, affordably. We can walk near people, cars, anything, and she’s aware but able to stay focused on her task. She trusted me to lead and tell her the steps on the way to the doggy area outside and back home. It may look cheap/may not look or feel like much, but it’s perfect. The light material is great for feeling less restricted, the muzzle band is the size projected and seems much more comfortable than her normal non-mask muzzle she used to wear, and the way it covers her face it still allows plenty of room for her to enjoy the breeze outside. She’s able to actually enjoy sniffing around rather than focusing on her surroundings. This is an absolutely helpful tool for her and I hope this review can help anyone else looking for solutions to a dog that has phobia issues outside the home. We have been looking for anything to help her, and nothing else we’ve tried is so much the right thing. It’s definitely worth a shot. Try it before you give up hope. ... show more

  • It's important to know that they cannot see through it. Life changing to have this management tool.
Size: L
This has been a godsend as a management tool for our reactive dog. We adopted our 7.5 year old dog and his reactivivity can be intense. We are working with a trainer but management is key until he improves. He gets triggered during car rides, if people are in the distance and he is really triggered if he sees another dog. We put this on him during car rides and he is able to relax and avoid being over stimulated. He is dog reactive too and we can slip it on quickly during a walk if we spot a dog before he does and to avoid him seeing other dogs leaving the vet while we wait in the car. It is very easy to put on quickly as soon as you figure out how to put it on. I wish they had a video showing how to put it on. I'll try to add a video to this review to help others. I worked with him for several weeks to get him used to wearing it. He knows when we put it on before a car ride that he's going somewhere fun, like a private Sniffspot or a park, so he tolerates it. I also keep a squeeze tube of peanut butter handy and can reach back from the passenger seat to give him some licks of the peanut butter, which helps him relax and forget that it's on. I wouldn't advise this, but we were able to walk him a mile with this thing on and he didn't care. His nose took over and he just enjoyed the walk. We had to be careful to guide him because they cannot see at all. We also bought the one they can partially see through on Chew.com and it is not as effective and takes way longer to put on. ... show more

  • Does the trick!
Size: L
I bought this for my dog aggressive boxer pit to see if it would help out with his reactivity a bit. I have a fenced front yard, but he can't go out much with me cause he is a psycho when he see others dogs. Same when we go on walks, to the point where I just don't take him anymore. Also, the groomers. Used it on him for the groomers and it worked great. He couldn't see any of the other dogs, so he stayed chilled out while they did his nails. Also, tried it on him on a walk. It worked for the reactivity, but have to keep him on super short leash so he can follow my lead. It's a bit tricky and will require practice so he doesn't bump into things or trip on curbs, etc. But it definitely helps to be able to take him on a peaceful walk without worrying about him going psycho killer mode with any dog he sees no matter how near or far. I also put it on him so he could roam in the front yard while I do yard work and it works great. He learns to smell and feel his way around, and I don't have to worry about him jumping the fence or going into attack mode anytime a dog walks by. It is something I plan to use infrequently, but he seems to like it actually. When I get it out to put it on him, he wags his tail and comes closer and waits while I put it on. He wags his tail while he has it on too. Weird. ... show more

  • More of a panic for dogs than a calming item
Size: Medium
I purchased all 3 sizes at different times, trying to get one that fit my dog and returned all 3. Somehow, the XL came by mistake, but the L and M didn't work for us either. My dog is a Corgi, and shouldn't be all that hard to fit. Having previously owned a blind dog, I know intimately well how a dog who is unable to see copes and behaves in what might be frightening or uncertain situations. This mask actually terrifies a dog who CAN see and has its sight abruptly taken away. Add to that the fear of something scary going on -- like a nail clipping, car ride, thunder storm, or being handled by a stranger. The poor fit aside, I'd say all in all, I think this product is a very bad idea. To the point that I'd call its use borderline cruel. ... show more

  • No more unruly car rides.
Size: L
Boy oh boy where to start. First off I love that this fits snuggly over the muzzle without being overly tight and that you can adjust it for a bigger or smaller head. My dog used to bark like crazy at everything and anything. I am talking in my back window, car rocking side to side, him bouncing around crazy. Now he rides quietly. Even laying down and chilling sometimes. If this sounds like your dog. You need this! ... show more
