This is not portable at all, once the plastic pieces are connected it isn't folding up without disassembly. Way too many cardboard buildings that are easy for kids to destroy. The tiny ponies are super cute, but might not be worth the cost of the playset overall.

I chose this item from Amazon Vine for my daughter because she is currently obsessed with mini toys and playsets. This playset did not disappoint. It's bigger than I expected. I thought it would be closer to an old-school Polly Pocket set (slightly larger than palm-sized). But this playset is about the size of an average purse but thinner. The cardboard buildings are pretty thick, but I definitely don't think those will last forever. Some of them were a little difficult to bend into place, like the little gazebo, and I definitely ripped a couple of small spots. However, they were easy enough to fold and set up. If your child likes to play with a complete set and has all the buildings, this might not be the best playset for them. My daughter wants to mix and match her toys, and she was more interested in the compact than the buildings so she won't be devastated if they rip. The playset comes with quite a few different ponies, decorations, etc. This could be good for travel play if you leave the buildings at home and put the ponies and decorations into a baggy. The compact itself is really sturdy feeling and closes tightly. Overall, I would recommend this playset because it is mostly well made and good quality (minus the buildings) and is a good value for the price. It can also easily mix and match with other playsets like a lego set or other mini playset. ... show more

When I ordered this months ago, the images were all for the Friends of Maretime Bay set, so I wasn't sure what would arrive. What I got was a disappointing set with a host of issues that just ruined it. Despite the packaging that prevents the set from falling out, the front was badly scuffed as if it had come loose. The set is held shut by a single latch that doesn't seem strong enough for the size/weight and a front hatch to hold accessories will pop open without any effort. There's also nothing stopping the 'wings' of the set from sliding down when the case is supposed to be closed, allowing the contents to spill out if one's not careful. The inside seems really sparse without the cardboard props and the plastic trees won't stay up on the pegs in the green area... they just fall over. Like the other sets, it's 100% not designed with portability in mind and even the flat flowers need to be removed from the field to get it to close properly. All of the plastic bits can technically fit inside, but it's tight. If the storage hatch on the front stayed closed it'd help, but it flops open randomly. I doubt many of the cardboard pieces would fit inside even if they were flattened. The gazebo was stressful to fold thanks to the thin rails... I folded it around a game case but it still felt close to tearing. There is no way I'd recommend this to a child! The plastic bits are small, the case barely holds together and the cardboard stuff's too fragile and won't survive multiple disassemblies. The Zephyr Heights set is tiny but at least it can hold itself shut. This is physically larger but has almost the same amount of plastic pieces. Frankly, I was happier with the Izzy keychain than this set. It's also a bummer to see the price drop less than a week after its release. ... show more

    • $28 for a hunk of plastic and cardboard
so something I've figured out lately is that these playsets hasbro made aren't made with travel play in mind... they're meant to be connected together so you can create a small equestria that being said, this playset is by far the worst offender in this series. $28 for a compact that you can't do much with and a bunch of CARDBOARD. I am not kidding. what's worse is that this cardboard is so flimsy it absolutely WILL be destroyed after a kid is done with it. the only thing that can be done to preserve it is simply only keeping it for display and display alone. when the cardboard is gone, you're left with a bad compact that doesn't offer much, because most of the toy was designed with the cardboard pieces in mind. also, again, you need to completely disassemble the compact to close it. and to play again, reassembly is required. ... show more
