Love this CD... not only does it relax my dogs, I found it greatly relaxing and not tiring to listen to either. I had it on loop for 3 days while pet sitting, so the guest dog would stop barking. It worked for him, and I didn't tire of it either.. Win, win! I usually have a hard time with music if I am trying to sleep, but had no trouble sleeping with this on. One of the songs reminds me of the main musical score from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I think the subtle birds chirping and rooster crowing every so often keep it from feeling repetitive. I prefer this CD over the DVD with the beagle on the cover. The CD is much more relaxing.. The Beagle cover While You Are Gone DVD is more stimulating with squeaking, quacking and chirping.. and mostly no music. I can't listen to it on loop. I wish the audio track for the beagle cover DVD was more like the CD's in this series. A DVD I prefer is the PAWS-itively Peaceful Pooch DVD... my pups love that, and I can tell a real difference in their behavior when I come home if they have had that DVD on. They seem a lot less edgy. I also like the music and subtle sounds, and can listen to it on loop... Even if I have a movie on it is not at all bothersome. The video quality isn't perfect, but cute subject matter and my dogs aren't yet fussy about 1080i... (their TV is only 720). ... show more

    • SUPER CUTE!! BEST CD FOR DOGS BY FAR!!!
First off, I work full time and I have school a few nights a week. My dog is a very well adjusted boy, and while I know he misses me, he's not destructive, nor do I think he has separation anxiety. I was looking for something to keep him company while I was gone, and to help "distract" him from being alone. I bought this CD after buying the "Through a Dog's Ear" Volume I. Let me say this is the best one by far! I bought Through a Dog's Ear because there were so many reviews vs. this one that didn't have too many. Boy was I wrong. The Through a Dog's Ear is piano music--which is nice, but in my opinion, I wanted something more than that to keep Baxter company. We're a "hard rocking music" house, and I just thought the piano music was boring to him. So, I bought this one too. The first time I played it, his ears perked up when the birds started chirping--he loved it! The music is very nice--lots of piano, so it's not as thought I hate piano music--but it's accompanied by lots of nice comforting animal sounds and things to make the music more exciting for my furry friend. I highly recommend this to anyone with a dog at home for long periods of time. I turn it on about 10-20 minutes before I leave, and give my dog a little treat to occupy him while I get out the door. He's very happy and settled while I'm gone and this helps me feel like I've done my job as his "mommy" - in making sure he's not miserable and mildly entertained while I'm gone. I enjoyed the songs but the dogs still prefer the Celtic harp and Irish Lullabies CDs they've been listening to in the years since I've adopted them.

    • CD contains talking and barking
We purchased this CD to play at night for our two Dachshunds. Calming music and sounds help them wind down and sleep at the end of the day. However when playing the CD, there is talking in four of the tracks and dogs barking in one of the tracks. When our Sausage Hounds heard the talking, they became aroused and started barking. The same thing occurred when a track had dogs barking. Both of our dogs decided to bark along with the CD. The talking and barking may not be a deal-breaker for owners of other dogs, but it didn't work for us. We're returning this CD for a refund. ... show more

love this cd, it is very diverse, has many different sounds which intrigues both our two rescue noise sensitive, nervous chihuahua pomeranian mixes and our cat. all of us find the music very relaxing, and the different sounds are curious to our animals, but the music is calming. so they perk up when different sounds come on, but lay comfortably, relaxed. the various sounds diffuse the outdoor noises that stress our two dogs. the cd actually good training tool for them to hear different triggers while at the same time hearing calming music. for the person who's dog got agitated, would suggest giving it longer chance. it might help dog get used to those sounds in calm, controlled environment, desensitize animals. this is what it seems to be doing for our dogs. love this cd. ... show more
