We have twin boys, and bought them two different teething rings recently -- this was one of them. They love them both - for different reasons. We got them both this Munchkin ring and the Nuby Bug A Loop Teether Bead, Colors May Vary. They like the soft texture and flexibility of the Nuby ring. This ring is different - the links, or sections, are all stiff, though some have a soft coating on the outside. As a teething toy, the different textures on the various sections are great to give the baby some variety. Sometimes, they like chewing on the softer sections which have different molded textures. Sometimes, they like to chew on the hard plastic sections. It must be for them like choosing between Mounds and Almond Joy - sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. Sometimes the baby wants to chew something hard, sometimes (s)he doesn't. Some of the hard plastic sections have little pieces inside to work like a rattle. Don't worry - nothing's broken - that's the way it's designed. As a parent, I appreciate that the rattle isn't too loud at all. I find that the babies like this just as much as a toy as they do for it's teething qualities. They like to play with its various configurations, changing shapes, etc as they manipulate the sections. This has provided hours of entertainment and is almost always one of the items that we throw into their carseats or the diaper bag when we go out. Five stars for sure! ... show more

    • It's always a crapshoot whether YOUR child will like it...

I have been eyeing this toy at Amazon for quite a long time, but thought it was a bit pricey for "just" a teether/clutch toy (I am cheap and get most of our toys at consignment sales). Finally I just bought it, and my baby loved it immediately. He is barely old enough to start clutching toys (about 3-4 mos. at the time I gave it to him) and this one was very easy for him to grab in his tiny little fist and hang on. It also was easy for him to get it to, and into, his mouth. Again, this guy's VERY young. Sometimes it would slip up his arm, like a bracelet, and he couldn't get it off, but he'll be able to when he's bigger. He likes it alot, and we like it because it's colorful, small, portable, durable, twisty (so it appears to be different shapes all the time), and easy to wash. I suspect the reason it's not supposed to be immersed is because of the clear sections that contain little balls that rattle. If it soaked in water for a long time, small amounts of water could seep in there and probably wouldn't easily come out. I do immerse it in hot soapy water briefly, give it a rub, and rinse it immediately, and have no issues. Similarly, I wouldn't put it in the dishwasher because I suspect the heat would damage either the plastic or rubber parts. But I don't understand the reviewers who say they can't clean this thing. It's sometimes impossible to predict if *your* kid will like something before he/she tries it, but this one was a hit for us. Great teether! My son got his first tooth at 3 months, so we're in for a long year. This has been great because he can already grip it so well that he doesn't loose it very easily. Flexes and turns around so it keeps his interest. Attractive bright colors with different surfaces to satisfy his need to bite on anything that will relieve his discomfort. My DD loved this toy/teether when she was younger--and every now and then you could catch her dad or I twisting it around, too :) For the price and entertainment value I think it is a great thing to keep in your diaper/travel bag--lots of texture, movement, color and fun in such a little package! I have bought a couple as gifts for new moms since... all thank me and say what a great gift it is, and they never would have thought to buy it or ask for it. Only drawback for me--cleaning it. There are tiny little gaps in between the pieces that twist, so for me I didn't think a run through the dishwasher was good enough. I usually boiled it for 5-10 mins or so every couple of days in addition to the dishwasher... but maybe I'm just a little OCD! Package says not to dishwasher/boil it, but I didn't have any issues from doing so. ... show more

We got it as a shower present. It was larger and heavier than I had imagined a teether to be. We started giving this to our baby to play with probably around 2-3 months, but given the size and weight of it, I was a bit afraid it would hurt him if he dropped it on his face given his grip wasn't that great yet. Now that he's 4.5 months and much more capable of grasping/gripping, I appreciate the size quite a bit -- the teether keeps him occupied for a long time because if he drops it on his body (whether he's sitting, lying on floor, or in his carseat), he usually can manage to still get a hold of a part of it to get back to playing with it. It's been his favorite thing to play with and chew on the last few weeks. The different colors and textures seem to really appeal to him. One thing is: be careful to not let it drop onto a hard surface from up high. To our sadness, ours broke yesterday when our baby dropped it onto the concrete ground while sitting on my husband's lap. But it's been so wonderful to have (I just ordered another one), so it's getting 5 stars. ... show more

This toy is much cooler than I imagined. Even I spent a few minutes playing with it when it arrived. If you twist it enough the pieces shift their position making it a unique experience for a baby each time they play. It's like a magic trick to them. The soft parts are perfect for teethers. It's brightly colored, and when I hand washed it I noticed no water got into it. I was impressed. I would highly recommend to any parent with a teething infant. ... show more

It is quite an interesting teether. You can twist and turn it many different ways. When it came I was surprised to see it was a bit bigger than my expectation. Grown ups play with it too. Our son likes it but it is too hard for him to continue to chew. I expected a softer rubber type material but the colorful parts are hard plastic and purple and blue parts are rubber but still quite hard. I would rather give up the twisty function and have a softer material that is more chew-able. ... show more

Love this. Nice and small - easy to toss in a purse/diaper bag for outings. Sturdy for your little teether to chomp on and grab. It twists into shapes too, which is an added form of entertainment (the white part in between the colored sections is a like a joint to make that happen). My 9 month old (with a short attention span and teeth coming in) definitely enjoys playing with this...for a little bit at least! ... show more
