Unless one has some power equipment, then one must use something like this. It is not too long so pounding in an 8 foot T posts is okay as one can still lift it over the posts when ready. Gloves help, keeping hands in the middle of the side handles reduce the vibration that one will receive if getting too close to the bottom of the handle. Ir a Arizona we have a type of very hard ground called Colicchie. It’s extremely difficult to dig through. I needed to put up some handicapped parking signs and the sledgehammer was getting me nowhere. I spent over an hour hammering the post with the sledgehammer and it didn’t go down more than 1/2 inch. So I bought this. It took me about 15 seconds to drive the sign post in about a foot and a half. Amazing. As I said, this thing is a beast. Highly recommend. ... show more

What can I say>>>My husband and son loves this thing!!!!!!!! We had to put a 6' tall fence around our garden to keep the critter out as they destroyed our garden last year. They couldn't believe how much easier this was than using a ladder and a maul. Would recommend it to anyone who needs to pound in fence posts. Would say I would buy again except it is so rugged I don't think I will have to get another one ....maybe for a gift I would. ... show more

Used this for several t posts. Worked well. It is heavier than most. That helps drive posts faster but it will wear you out if you do too many at once without help! It is sturdy and appears well constructed.

I used this tool to straighten and stiffen an existing fence that just needed some maintenance after 15 years. The 34lb version fits over an entire 4x4 and I actually needed to used it upside down for existing posts and gave about 8 good whacks on each. that sunk them about 1" and then I tamped the surrounding ground a bit. I actually pulled a 4x4, backfilled and tamped, drilled out a core with a flower bulb planter, and then drove the new post in using this tool. You can do it just like guys do with the gas versions, but this is $900 cheaper and I only needed to do two posts. You will be sore; it's a workout ... show more
