So far I am very happy with this purchase! I have had my eye on this for a long time as I really like the idea of NOT having to break a fingernail taking my GoPro Hero 4 out of its housing each time it needs to charge, but for over $100? The reviews weren't good enough for me to spend that kind of money on something I wasn't sure about! However, I found this in "good" condition for <$30 so I jumped on it. I'm glad I did! First of all, I expected some fairly noticeable blemishes due to the Amazon Warehouse description of "Some cosmetic imperfection on front of item (less than 1"x1"). Minor cosmetic imperfection on top or sides of item (less than 1/4"x1/4"). Minor cosmetic imperfection on bottom or back of item (less than 1/2"x1/2"). Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged." That's okay... it doesn't need to LOOK perfect as long as it works! To my pleasant surprise, the only part of that description I found accurate was just a tiny amount of wrinkling on the most outward layer of the packaging. There was an "Amazon Warehousedeals Inspected" sticker on there too, but as for the "cosmetic imperfections"? Well... they must be so tiny they are literally not at all visible. If not for that sticker on the box, I would not have known this was a previously owned item. That was a nice surprise, especially since I paid so far under the sticker price. Now, as for functionality, so far this little device is performing exactly as stated. It took me a minute to figure out how to get the wireless charging adapter - which is basically a little strip of flexible cardboard with a mini-USB plug end - to fit inside my Hero 4 waterproof housing. It took a little bit longer to figure out how to get the camera in its casing seated in the charger. Fortunately, the included instructions covered this: the strip wraps around the bottom of the camera and fits snugly in the housing, and the whole shebang gets seated ALL the way down in the device's two slots, lens facing forward with the device's extra battery charging slot on the left. Once I figured that out, it clicked into place easily and started charging right away. I especially LOVE that I am able to charge my device and record at the same time. This has been my main complaint about the GoPro line before using this device. Now, I can continue to record after the battery would have died, and I don't have to wait for it to charge back up or remove the housing to change the battery! I noticed that striations (like on a very old or out-of-tune TV) seem to appear in the preview screen in photo mode, but they neither appear in video mode nor in captured photos or video. It seems to be some minor interference when charging but only in the preview, so it's no issue at all. Of course, I can't say that I won't ultimately have some issue with this device that will cause me to edit my rating down, but as of right now, I can't understand why the reviews for this product are so negative. It works exactly as promised for me and adds a tremendous amount of convenience and functionality to my GoPro. It is small, sleek, and effective. It does not get hot when charging and it does all fit together as promised, at least for the GoPro Hero 4 with standard waterproof housing. It arrived quickly in much better condition than I expected.I am very, very happy with this product: it actually solves all my complaints against this otherwise super handy camera! My sole tiny complaint is that the flap covering the port to charge the device itself makes it a little hard to get bulker USB ends in the plug, but it was really nothing that an extra second of finagling didn't resolve.

Directions on how to charge while the camera is in the housing unit are confusing and conflicting. I've not been able to successfully charge my GoPro with it at all. I would send this back but haven't been able to get clear directions on how to do that.

charger would not charge, the concept was good if it had worked. only good thing i can say about this is the return. it went smooth

Seems to work pretty well, this will be great for diving so I don't have to worry about compromising the seals in between dives, or even for the entire trip.
