  • The movies great.
The movie is great and would highly recommend. As for the lower star reviews, ignore them. Amazon messed up the release and so they got a different movie. Instead of just contacting Amazon's customer service (like a normal person) they decided to give the movie a low rating. Movies great definitely give it a watch. Keep'em high and tight! ... show more

  • Not bad, but not good, just "meh"
I'm 34, and grew up playing pretty much all MK games. I loved the reboot games, as they tried to make sense of the convoluted story lines; to my enjoyment, I think they did as good a job as can be expected. When I saw Scorpion's Revenge, I was extremely excited for the next movie. The pacing of Scorpion's Revenge was great, and overall it was an enjoyable experience—I have no problems rewatching it and still getting some enjoyment out of it. Battle of the Realms really suffers in regards to pacing. There seem to be multiple movies competing for the spotlight, and none of them really shine as it all feels rushed. Honestly, if this movie was 2 1/2 hours long, it may have been a banger. Certain character deaths had me scratching my head. I know they die in the game, and how they're brought back—but this movie seems to bring a certain character in just to kill him brutally...I mean, why? What's worse is, if I didn't know who this character was, I wouldn't care at all. There's literally no character development beyond what you saw in Scorpion's Revenge. I get that we're not here for a deep story, but come on, at least pretend to care about your characters. Raiden is arguably the only one who shows an iota of being cared for by the writers. I feel like the characters are here to progress the story, instead of the story progressing around the characters and their decisions. This movie has no soul, and not because Shang Tsung stole it—it wasn't there to begin with. Seriously, make the movie longer and dive deeper into the characters and why they're there. A portal opens to Mortal Kombat and everyone's like "ok, time to go", when a couple minutes ago they were saying "this is a terrible idea, lets figure something else out". We literally get a "no, I've decided for you" and they're cool with it. Idk why some of them went in the portal, as their motivations are unclear beyond "gotta do it to save the Earth", which just reeks of lazy writing. If they would have made this into a two part movie, it could've been better. Hindsight is always 20/20 tho... Save your money and rent it, or wait for it to be free on Prime or something. I wouldn't buy it, as it's probably not going to get watched again, ever. I'm not a professional movie critic, this is obviously my opinion... I'm just a fan of MK and am tired of seeing the story get dumped on when there's legitimate gold here to be shared. ... show more

  • I Can Dig It
Shut up and take my money for the next 5 installments please. This was great. Here are my critiques: 1) Katana is a warrior. Why do writers make her out to be so defenseless and dainty? I guess she’s MK’s version of Disney’s “damsel in distress” but I don’t like it. I want to see so much more and better engaging in fighting and actual fighting from her even though she’s a peacemaker. Yes she did fight Raiden and it was one of the best I’ve seen Katana engaged in a fight, but let’s do better with her, creators. She’s a warrior-princess. Not just a princess. Although she is not a mercenary, she is a “warrior with a heart”. 2) Why did Kung Lao perish so easily? He’s the guardian of wind, right? He, too, is made to be weakened and he could be imagined at a much elevated level than what MK usually gives him. They did a good job in MK 11 and MK 11 Ultimate, but c’mon give the man some fight and credit. 3) SONYA BLADE, a mortal, regardless of her peak levels, can withstand the same blows from Shao Kahn as non-mortals and live? Meh! I’m kinda tired of Sonya. She adds no value for me except she’s good for the storyline because she’s an original. I’m not into the military style figures with their guns and brawn and attitude. Just shut up and fight - in my Shao Kahn voice - but do it without all of that. I suppose the “add” because it’d be bland with everyone having superpowers, but be a bit more realistic, please. That part where she fought Shao Kahn and lived was phony at best. I’ll give her credit for the spare with D’vorrah, but I am tired of non-superhumans withstanding the attacks of superhumans like pros and living to tell it with all their health included. That could have been executed better. 4) Johnny was cool. Give me a little bit more storyline, please. 5) Maybe I’ve become disillusioned over the years of it all, but I need to better understand the connection between Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, and Lord Shinnok. I’d like to see them in a movie all together and how that’d work. I often see only two of the three together at any given time. Other times Quan Chi is happily serving Lord Shinnok; other times he’s rebelling and/or out for revenge. Shang Tsung is cunning and usually seems to know how to smooth talk and ally with anyone, so he’s either way with either of them. Anyway, Quan Chi is not in this installment. Just wanted to put my thought out about the connection between the three. 6) All for Liu Kang being “that guy” and being “that guy” in the end, but the dragon and the fight was lame. The whole ending was lame. Do-over with that ending, please. 7) Liu Kang complained about Shang Tsung’s pride and arrogance but he, too, displayed some pride and arrogance that guided as eagerness. Thankfully, Raiden was there as a buffer to guide and stave it off so Liu could see the bigger picture - he was needed in the end not in the beginning or the mid. Overall, great action, visuals, and storyline. ... show more

  • Mortal Kombat is the "kulmination" of everything childhood me wanted.
This was awesome. As a lifelong fan it had new twists and surprises! The action was great. If you liked the first one you'll love this!

  • Overall Enjoyable But
No Spoilers. Was a fun movie, but I felt they had to much going on it this short film. Like the first film, we have multiple stories being told that come together by the end. However, this film feels like it made to many sacrifices to tell multiple stories at once. Some fights felt way to short/they skip to the end of the fights. I feel like they needed more run time or to separate the other story into its own film to make this work better. Still a fun movie. ... show more

  • Mortal Kombat movie for the fans!
I really enjoyed this movie, it had everything a Mortal Kombat fan could want. It takes story points from a combination of all the games , playing like a MK Greatest hits movie. If you are a Mortal Kombat fan this won't disappoint. Great cast of characters , tons of action , gore , and comedy with a classic Mortal Kombat story that leaves you wanting more. ... show more
