Another quality built piece from Satechi.If you can get pass the omission of a lightning port adaptor for older Air Pod Max, then this stand will not disappoint. Heavy enough to support the headphones without the stand moving or headphones falling out. Magnet is strong, but you do have to ensure proper placement. But that is to be expected, after all when you charging the Air Pod Max that have considerable weight themselves. I'm a long-time user of Mophie products. I was excited to get this AirPods Max charging stand--so much so, I didn't read the item description that said FOR USB TYPE C. Ok, my bad. This charging stand uses a magnetic tip that you plug into your headphones and magnetically clicks to the bottom of the cradle to meet the magnet. So, I call Mophie, Zagg (the company that bought Mophie) and their private equity owner to ask if they had any plans to sell or send lightning tips so they can be used. I have plenty of other cables that use magnets for the tips and they are interchangeable. The response was no. I read reviews of the product on the Verge website where the comments expressed this disappointment. Even the Mophie site for this product has several comments about why don't they offer a lightning tip? The installed base of this headphone is 90% lightning as type C just came out last year! This was a major blunder not to make this charging stand backward compatible. I have a work around--more on that in a minute. Soooo, even if this worked for me out of the box, it is WAY too expensive to meet a 5 star rating due to the low value proposition. This is triple the price of no-name products doing the same thing. It is pretty, well-built but not worth $150. It added 40% charge in about 30 minutes while charging my air pods case. Workaround: I ordered these my own tips for $12 (4 pack) and they worked for charging. Thy did NOT show up on my phone as charging in the widget, however, they charged just fine. So, if you like this a real lot, you can still use with lightning tips if you buy your own. Quality product but pricy and no backward compatibility means 3 stars. ... show more

I’m sure this stand is great, but I wouldn’t know so my review is NOT for that. I’ve now had 2, both of which were clearly used upon my receipt of them. The first one was missing pieces. I ordered a replacement, which got here promptly, very good! However, it’s also been opened and clearly used. I don’t generally mind that, if I choose to buy a used or refurbished item. But it seems shady to me to sell a used item as “new”. It’s obvious immediately looking at the box that this has been opened, so that should at least prompt a look inside said previously opened box to see if there is any wear to the item before shipping it out. This setup is very convenient for people who have both the AirPods Max and regular AirPods, as long as those are of the more recent generations that work with wireless charging. It's helpful to have a dual-purpose docking and charging station that takes up no more room than one that would charge a single device, as it's profile is mostly vertical. It doesn't take up too much space, which is great. And I love the battery-conserving feature that kicks in automatically when you dock your headphones. The look of this is fine, being black and minimalist, and it combines well with the headphones themselves.
