  • Cut the original one off
Couldn't be happier with this pitman arm, Moog makes the sturdiest stuff. On the Chevy, the pitman arm tends to be very hard to remove, I cut the existing arm off in sections, using a cutoff wheel on the section that connect to the steering box and hitting it with a hammer. That worked far better than the puller I rented from O'Reilly's. Upon installing the new one I immediately noticed less slop in the steering, I did have someone move the wheel back and forth while underneath the vehicle and notices significant slack in the pitman arm so not a huge surprise. ... show more

  • Great improvement in steering. But not for the novice!
I put this on my 2002 Silverado 2500 HD Duramax four-wheel-drive. Tires are 265. 75. 16, BF good rich all terrain TA. Keio. I wish people who report review and for car parts would put more detail vehicle information. It helps us all out. This was a direct replacement. I couldn’t tell the difference between the stock one in this one. Well, except the stock when I took off was totally shot. I replace the idler arm also, MOOG. I always use MOOG for all my steering parts. On a sidenote, this took almost 4 hours to takeoff and put back on. Had to remove the steering box, three bolts on the frame. Weighed about 30 pounds. Could not get the pool or on the the arm to get it off the steering box. What a nightmare. But I saved about $600 compared to what tire Kingdom wanted! How do use an impact wrench to pull the arm off. Truck drives so much better now. No play in the steering. I did replace the tire rods in her, and outer, about two years ago. And this made the biggest difference. I did not even have to get a wheel alignment. Save me another $130! ... show more

  • 2002 Chevy Avalanche 2500 8.1 4X4 three spline keyways
Did not have to pull the steering box. Got both ends off with a pickling fork and then I had to pry a bit to get the new one in. The steering box end needed a 34mm wrench.

  • Overall good review but just want to share my experience
Ok, so this is gonna be a bit of a long review. I decided to replace the worn parts on my steering system on my 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 4×4. Never done it before and the steering was starting to get pretty sloppy and truck pulling to the right. Im one of those guys who will spend a month deciding what parts to buy for my truck. I'll do so much homework on parts, read forums, watch YouTube videos and look up reviews on Amazon to find the right parts. Im not the type of guy who just Google's a part number and buys it without doing any homework or doublechecking fitment notes. First, I do homework so I can buy the right part, next I care about durability, and lastly cost. The last thing I wanna do is spend money on parts that don't fit, won't last, or are overly expensive for no justifiable reason. So Im a stickler for details. So what I did was first look at what manufacturer seems to be making good quality steering system parts. Alot of people on YouTube and Amazon reviews swear by Moog so thats what I went with. After I decided to use Moog parts, I went to their catalog and figured out what part #'s I needed and then found those parts on Amazon. I was surprised at the amount of money I saved buying from Amazon. Probably close to 300 bucks. So Im pretty happy about that. 90% of my overall experience was positive, but the negative really sucked. I just assumed that Amazon's Vehicle Part Fitment tool would be accurate. And apparently for the make of my truck there is a 3 groove or a 4 groove pitman arm that fits. I couldnt find anywhere that would tell me how many grooves were on the pitman arm on my truck so I went ahead and trusted Amazon's vehicle part fitment tool and it set me up with the 4 groove which ended up not fitting on my truck. Not that big of a deal. Was able to return it but only get refunded $45 after I spent $70 for the part and never installed it on my truck. Definitely wish Amazon would go the extra mile and make their vehicle part fitment tool much more specific and force the parts suppliers to provide more part fitment technical information in the description so people know whether parts will fit on their vehicle before they buy them and then can't get a full refund. Plus its just good buisness. The more accurate information you give the consumer and the better your platform becomes at getting the right part for every vehicle and application, and your parts are cheaper than the competition, thats just another reason why people will choose to buy from you. Thats why I went with Amazon. I saved money and was able to have the parts delivered to me. Was there a hiccup that costed me some time. Yeah. But it was worth it overall. If Amazon does a little legwork on their software side to make their vehicle parts fitment tool better they'll make all kinds of money on the back end and get fewer returns. Please, please, please. I want to love Amazon but its really not that easy to find car parts without having to use other auto part store's parts search tools. Like I said, 90% positive experience but Amazon can definitely do better. ... show more
