Description

The Monstrum Raven Series scopes are fixed magnification prism scope optics - available in 1.5x and 3x. They offer similar functionality to red dot sights for rapid short range target acquisition, but use a glass prism optical system with etched glass reticle instead of the projected laser dots used in traditional red dot sights. Why choose a prism scope over a red dot sight? Sharper reticle than a red dot sight Red dot reticles are projected using a laser reflecting against a plane of glass and can result in a starburst effect at higher brightness intensities. They can be notoriously blurry for shooters with astigmatism. Prism scope reticles are etched in glass, produces less distortion than a red dot, and are easier for the eye to focus on, especially for shooters with astigmatism. Works with or without illumination Red dot reticles require both a powered laser source and an on/off mechanism. This makes them susceptible to running out of battery power or to malfunction. The prism scope reticles are etched into the glass and remain visible with or without illumination. Prism scopes can be offered with magnification Red dot sights are by design 1x optics. Prism scopes can be offered in a range of magnifications depending on your shooting needs. The picatinny base mounts to any standard picatinny mounting platform. The single piece machined aluminum body is built with fewer moving parts and less points of failure to hold zero against the fiercest of recoil It offers five levels of illumination in both red and green powered by a single CR2032 battery (included with purchase). All Monstrum products are covered by Monstrum’s lifetime warranty.

  • Poor eye relief
Style: 1.5x | Black
I was on the fence about this scope for a couple weeks, doing research and watching YT videos which are plentiful. There's some mixed reviews but overall everyone seems to be satisfied with Monstrum Tactical's products. I decided on this scope because it was a second generation model and looked cool. Aesthetics is one of the reasons I bought this scope. It has a sharp profile that isn't too over the top or clunky. I also liked how the mounting bolts were flush with the mount and not one of those bulky accessory screws which thankfully seem to be getting phased out. It was easy to mount on my rifle and the reticle knob wasn't overly stiff when turning. The diopter feels nice and smooth like something you'd find on a higher end product. Once I got it mounted I went into a standing shooting position to see how everything looked and all I saw was black with a little circle of light off in the distance. I figured that maybe I had the scope too far away so I brought it all the way back as far as it would go, tightened the screws, raised my rifle and it was better, but not in any way functional for live fire. Luckily, I had another carbine with an adjustable stock and I had to slide that all the way in just to see through the scope which means I have to train myself to use a different posture just to use this scope. I'm not going to lie, I was a little hot after all that nonsense. It's a great scope but the eye relief negates the functionality completely. I'm not shooting a rifle with my eyeball stuck in a scope like that. Maybe an inch away. It could be more but it feels like I have to move my head forward in order to get a clear sight picture which irks me. I could've lived with a loose knob or not so bright reticle, even those big unsightly accessory screws but this, I dunno. I want to try a different scope to see if this is something that's a common issue with this company. I really hope not because everything else I like and for the price it's hard to beat but what good is a scope if you can't see through it. If Monstrum can make that eye relief better they'll be selling these scopes left and right. I'm not turning my back on them just yet. I'm giving them one more chance and if the same thing happens then adios amigo. ... show more

  • I've equipped several
Style: 3x | Black
Is easy to zero, Works without battery. Fairly accurate. It won't make you a long-distance ace, But very good sight for an engagement 300m or less. If your plans are 300m or less I'd opt for Monstrum prododucts. Your shot group won't be super tight beyond 300m. I'm an old Infantry guy. 300m is the ideal engagement distance. This product is absolutely capable for service for an old 11B. ... show more

  • Decent Optic, cheap mounting hardware.
Style: 3x | Black
First impression of this scope were great. Sleek packaging, and a great looking product out of the box. When i installed this optic onto my AR it looked great and had a crisp, clear sight picture, as a true prism red dot should. First range day i got the sight dialed in quickly, and was hitting good groups. Towards the end of my session i noticed all my shots were going wide left consistently. When i stopped to examine the sight, the recoil of a 100+ rounds had knocked the mounting hardware lose so my scope was shifted. This shouldn’t happen after wrenching it down as tight as possible with the included Allen keys. This was easily fixed with some loctite and rectified at my next trip to the shooting range. But buyer beware you get what you pay for. Your optic is only as good as the mount that connects it to your gun. And in this case, the mount kinda sucks. The optic itself is great though, clear 3x zoom. Adjustable red and green reticle with variable brightness. Also looks great. Could be a great optic just needs to be modified to stay put. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted
Style: 3x | Black
Put this on a .556 and it was exactly what I was looking for. After a few minutes of sighting it in, can consistently hit the head of a silhouette target from 100 yards out.

  • Overall good, would be better with more eye relief.
Style: 3x | Black
Simple and good quality optic. The only downside to it is the eye relief, you do have to get pretty close to have a full sight picture.

  • Good Clear and Bright Optics
Style: 3x | Black
I have two of these Monstrum Raven red dot sights. It does have some slight magnification, but I wouldn't call it a scope or use it for bringing targets closer. I really like the magnification because my eyes are old and don't see as well as they once did; thus, this is super good for my uses. At 25 yards shooting at an Olympic air gun rifle target, whose center is the size of the head of a pin, the red dot covers the nine ring area. That's about one quarter of an inch across... my guess. If you hold the red dot dead center it covers that 9 ring area and a shot will hit near or at the center of that target. The sight is consistent and does not change the aim point. I have used this on PCP air rifles without a problem. Good mounts in my opinion. I do not know if the sight will hold up on a springer air gun. Springers are terribly hard on scopes, so if you own a spring type air gun beware of the potential destruction of nearly any sight that isn't constructed specifically for a spring powered air gun. This is a fairly large sight and doesn't work on air pistols. The Monstrum Raven isn't made for target shooting as the dot covers a lot of area once you get beyond 25 or 30 yards. It is for hunting, quick target acquisition, low light target acquisition, and plinking. You can knock a bottle cap into space 25 yards away with no problems. The brightness of the dot is variable. The adjustments for windage and height are somewhat crude and accomplished with a screwdriver or coin. The clicks on the adjustments are weak; however, they don't seem to change once they are set. • Great 3X scope but big
Style: 3x | Flat Dark Earth
It has a nice eye relief, nice reticle with and w/o power, and easily adjusted. Color matched my FDE upper nicely. Only complaint is the large size of it. Not easy to store rifle after install. Good product overall.
