So I bought the Mongoose React E2 for my 9 year old son and he loves it! The first thing he said was “Whoa!!” Followed by and “Thank you!”. Mongoose has a really made a great electric scooter. The scooter came in very secure packaging, when I removed the scooter all that needed to be done was attach the handle bars to the scooter base and tighten the 2 Allen screws to the scooter base with the Allen key that is provided in the packaging and you are ready to ride. One of my concerns where, is this scooter safe? Mongoose made sure that rider must get enough speed before the motor engages, also if you apply the rear foot break it disengages the motor allowing the rider to come to a safe controlled stop. I really prefer the push button throttle that is on the Mongoose React scooter over the twist throttle that other scooters use. The scooter also has plenty of speed getting up to 10 MPH and a range up 8 miles, which is more than enough for my son. Charging takes some time at 6 hours with it being a lead acid battery, but we just make sure to charge it overnight and to just make sure to unplug it in the morning which recommenced by Mongoose. My one complaint, would be that the grip tape has begun to peel from over use from son. Which is a very simple fix, I am happy that he gets so much use out of the scooter! I read another post about Christmas morning fail, I too had this. The first one had bent handle bar and the metal around the wheel so it was not drivable. So we got a replacement took only about a week. Well then the 2nd one I got all set up charged only to find out it wouldn’t even start or power on. So at that point I just wanted my money back. We ordered this Mongoose specifically because the title stated it was for people up to 175lbs. When we received it, it was smaller than expected and manual says that both the E1 and E2 are for kids up to 120lbs. My child is 120lbs exactly. So... returning today to the disappointment of my daughter. It is a pretty small scooter. She's a little tall and it would have been tough for her to lean down and ride. ... show more

Our first one wouldn't charge. Got a replacement and my son quickly learned to ride it. It was a little bumpy on our street with the plastic wheels. Battery started to fade after a couple days. Simple design for a beginner, but we are going to try something else.

It does the job. The platform is too small for my kids. They have big feet and its a challenge to stay on as there us not enough room. These manufacturers must understand that kids nowadays are not like the kids of old. My kid is size 4 and just turned 8
