The shoe came in a beautiful box but when I opened it had that awful smell like when you paint wood and you add the clear protection, it was really strong. I put them outside to air them over the night, next day I took them for work and they still had the smell. So I added leather conditioner and let the air more I'm hoping the smell disappears because the shoes are beautiful and after using them for a whole day they feel really comfortable. I'm 8.5 US and I bought that same size, in the box it says 40 as well for European size, they have a little of extra space to add an insole because they dont have a lot of cushioning. I have wide feet and they are perfect for me. Now, the outsole is made of foam, I read that in other reviews and I doubt about buying them but I decided to give them a try. I only used them once so far and the feel is amazing after adding the extra insole. They look very elegant and I love them. ... show more

I bought two different styles of Mona’s black oxfords. I had a really hard time choosing. I went with these because I liked the more rounded toe. Straight out of the box they fit perfectly. I have a wider foot. The sole was flexible. I immediately took them on a business trip and wore them 3 days in a row. Through airports, city streets, a ferry ride, driving the rental car, walking the factory floor, out to dinner. I did buy some foam heel liners to push my ankle away from the opening but I wore them for a day before adding so not a serious issue. The leather is nice, definitely not luxe, but nice enough. Mine even came with cloth bags. I used them to put my other shoes in my suitcase because I never needed them! I will buy more from this company! Update: have had these shoes for just over a year. I wear them 2 or 3x a week. I have worn them in to work out dinner, in the rain, moving furniture. I haven’t even polished them. Still look great no wear, still have a shine. Haven’t scuffed or distorted. I wish they had more refined colors. There are a few standard black and brown, and some whacky colors. What about ecru? Silver? Gold? Mint? The description said to size up for W but even with sizing up they were still too narrow for my wide feet. Wish they had an actual W option! Gorgeous shoes!

I really love the way the shoe looks! I tried them on and wore them in the house. I haven't worn them out yet but they were comfortable while walking around in the house.

    • Dance shoes! (Smooth soles on some styles)
Size: 9 Color: Brown-2
Beautifully made shoes! Comfortable right out of the box, and forming nicely to my foot-shape after 3h of dance class. Soles of this particular style are smooth enough for dancing swing (lindy hop) without adding any suede adhesive. (Note: some styles from the same brand have a rubber sole ... check the sole-view image to confirm before you order your shoes). I wear a 39 in Danskos, 9.5 for most other types of shoes (except 40 in road cycling shoes). The Size 9 from Mona Flying fits me well with a thin sock (lightweight smartwool or trouser sock). My feet are 250mm long. [I measured my foot by tracing around it with a pencil while standing on paper, wearing socks. Then I drew tangents at the big toe and heel, and measured the length]. I consider my feet to be kind of wide (96mm), and although there was light pressure in the toe box for a few minutes, this disappeared as the leather “gave” to conform to my foot. I bought “Brown 2” from this link, and grey in a style with rubber sole and larger eyelet-like flower pattern perforations, to try both. If you are eager to wear your shoes without waiting a few days for the leather-tanning odors to diminish, you might be happiest with the natural brown. (The grey was either more recently-made, or adding the pigment process might make the odor stronger.) Brown 2 had almost no odor. My dance teacher agreed that they seem like well-crafted, strong and feminine shoes — she and my teammates would like to buy some also. Bottom-line: I love my first-ever pair of dancing shoes! I hope that the artisans are well-supported ... they are doing amazing work — thank you! ... show more
