  • And I'm glad I did....
Style: Donovan II Slate
I researched tables for about six weeks, and looked at a few before I decided on this table. And I'm glad I did. The materials and build quality are between excellent and superb. The base went together seamlessly in about two hours, working alone. But, I admit, I'm one of those nerds that actually read AND follow the directions, checking off each item. (Before some of you take my Man Card away, let me mention in my own defense that I'm a scientist and a pilot; it's second nature). I placed this table on an absolutely level concrete floor, and the base needed no adjustment -- it was level and plumb when built to the instructions. While I acknowledge that writing instructions that are fool-proof is impossible, the instruction booklet included with the table had a great deal of thought to be clear and limit ambiguities. And it ISN'T the manufacturer's fault that somewhere, bigger fools are also being, um, manufactured. My brilliant and beautiful wife helped lift the slates (and it's slates, and not Slatron) onto the base. Two of the slates, one end and the middle, matched up as if they had eyes. The other and was proud by about a millimetre on one end, and depressed on the other by the same amount. I used the shims included in the kit to level, but think that the suggestion in the instructions of using playing cards is excellent. I've read some of the other reviews that the included grout was difficult to work with. I'm afraid I cannot agree. It takes patience and using it sparingly; it isn't drywall mud, plaster, or even tile grout. Repeated very light coat, dried and sanded, and the slates were glass smooth. I've never felted a pool table, but the clarity of the instructions and the quality of the cloth made it simple, and it looks great. The manufacturer seems to have gone out of their way to include extra fasteners, simple tools that a desperate or tool-less person could assemble the table with, and written the instruction better than most. Another pleasure is that the fasteners were obviously not melted down Chinese beer cans or made of a lead/modeling clay compound, but were quality steel and the threads were clean and sharp. I frequently keep a tap and die set nearby when assembling such projects to deburr and open cruddy treads, but was not needed here. Which brings me to my only very tiny comment; the instruction failed to include a step to cut the felt from the holes in the slate that the bolts pass through to fasten the top rails to the table. It's not absolutely essential, but it's much easier to do it BEFORE the rails are placed on the table rather than from below with a narrow razor knife. The table plays beautifully, is solidly built, and looks extremely clean-lined and quietly sophisticated. I couldn't be happier, and unhesitatingly and without reservation recommend this pool table on its quality of materials and design, ease of assembly and clarity of instruction, appearance, and function. ... show more

  • He loves it!
Style: Dynasty
My husband has always wanted a pool table so we finally made a purchase. We live in a split entry house with a family room downstairs and this fits perfect. It was delivered without issue. It is absolutely wonderful for the price we paid. It is Sturdy and has a very nice quality. The only thing he didn’t particularly like about it were the pool cues. We just stopped in the local sporting good store and purchased a couple more. They had a little bit better quality. He’s retired now and will go down there and shoot pool almost every day. It’s holding up well - I only wish that we had bought it sooner! It is very nice looking and leveled easy. Heads up - It did take three of us adults to turn it upright one assembled, but the assembly was a piece of cake! Very good packaging for transport. ... show more

  • Pain in the Yahoo to put together but turned out nice! Pain in the Yahoo to put together but turned out nice!
We purchased this billiards table for our office so employees can use it on their down-time/breaks as a stress-reliever. The billiards table itself is getting a lot of use and the reason why I picked it was because of the good reviews (beit only a few) and it was within our budget. Shipping was free with my Amazon Prime and it was also shipped and sold by Amazon so I could trust that I could contact them directly if I encountered any issues with the product. DELIVERY: The delivery process was good. It arrived earlier than expected. The delivery company CEVA called me ahead of time to confirm the delivery date and actual location for the delivery. However, when the delivery personnel arrived, they had stacked boxes on top of the longest-part of the billiards table which is clearly marked in large letters on both ends of the box: "Do not stack freight on top of this carton during shipping" which they overlooked. This lead to one of the top-rails broken in half (see photos). PRE-ASSEMBLY: It took three of us (2 females, one male) to assemble this item over a month. This was partly due to the fact that we could assemble it only a few hours at a time during work hours, AND (the biggie) because we had to wait for the replacement part that was damaged in shipping. I called Amazon upon immediately discovering the damaged part but they were no help at all since you would need to box everything back up in its original packaging and try to ship it back to them. (Really??) But to their credit, they did offer to discount the price which I accepted since the part that was broken might be salvagable. I called the manufacturer as well and they were AWESOME! Escalade Sports is the manufacturing company and they were so easy to work with! I told them what happened. They asked for the part number and my info, and said a replacement part was on the way! Happy ending, right? Not yet. It took ES three tries shipping the same part to me before I finally received one that wasn't damaged. The damaged rail is over 8-feet long and the skinniest part was the area that kept breaking in two. ES tried to ship the replacement part: first as-is with standard packaging; second, via FedEx with more beefed-up packaging, and finally, via freight truck so that it would lay flat on a truck bed. Before this, each time we received the damaged part, I would call them and they were happy to ship out a new one, no questions asked! So if you find that you've received any part of your table damaged, be sure to notify Amazon and then contact the manufacturer. There is a 90-day warranty on the product. ASSEMBLY: Directions were understandable and everything was in its own plastic bag and labeled clearly. You'll definitely need a power-drill and a smaller power-drill to get things assembled quickly. The slatron was quite heavy but we managed to get it on. We also didn't need to use the shims that came with the table as our floor and the table were all level. Be sure to be in a ventilated area when you start to put the felt on using the spray adhesive. We are in a work environment so the smell of the fumes went everywhere and we got a little loopy. USE: Once we got everything set up we tested it out and it worked great! We purchased red chalk for the cue sticks since the felt on the table was red. The table also came with a brush which doesn't work as well as a lint brush since the felt tends to ball up everywhere on the table within the first few weeks of use. It's a hefty piece and so far has held up with lots of daily use--we've had it for three months now. If you plan to use this as a "showcase" piece you might be better off spending more money but for your average everyday run-of-the-mill billiards table this is a great buy! I gave it 4 stars for quality, speedy initial delivery, and great customer service from Escalade Sports. -1 Star for what a pain it was to assemble and wait for a replacement part. ... show more

  • Do yourself a favor and don't order anything related to Escalade Sports!!!!!
Style: Donovan II Slate
The table was delivered on time, but a top side rail was broken. I called Escalade and they sent me a side apron. I called again, and they sent me 1/2 of top side rail (snapped in half and put in a small box. I called again, and they sent me a used top side rail that is worn out and and useless. The cloth is all pitted up, dirty and touched up with paint where the edge is chipped. They promised to talk with a manager and call me back. They did not. I left a message for their customer service manager and no response. Amazon said they would assist and did not. DON'T put yourself through this!!!!! I have had to dispute the sale with my credit card company. I have a pool table half assembled that I can not use. Week number 5. 8/28/13 UPDATE: Amazon came through. They delivered another pool table and let me take the parts I needed to make my pool table usable. They were very helpful once we worked through it. Although, they did try to tell me I never called them to make this right, even though I did, but everything has been resolved. Escalade Sports told me they would help, but when it came down to it, they took back all of their promises. Now that the table is complete I am happy, but I still don't recommend anyone else purchase this product due to the incompetence of Escalade. I'm truly surprised that they are still in business. ... show more

  • slate - great product for price, pot luck shipping
Style: Dakota Slate
First, this is a great product for the price. Yes, the cues and rack stink. Yes, it is 3/4 slate. But a new low end slate table from a local store starts around $5G. This new slate table is cheaper than local stores' used tables. Bottom line, it functions and looks great. And I saved a ton of money. Now some details: Shipping is a crap shoot. My first order had 3 damaged parts, 1 was slate. I took pictures and contacted the manufacturer, they said it was shipping damage and to schedule a return through Amazon. I scheduled a return but Amazon failed to communicate the pick up time with the carrier. It was picked up the next day. I was issued a refund upon arrival of product return. Half heartedly ordered the product again. This shipment was packaged much better, the slate was packaged on a pallet this time. Keep in mind the whole time lugging around really heavy pieces of slate and some large and heavy boxes. The return was free but a huge hassle. Opened second shipment and everything was good. I was excited again. It took me 2 days for assembly, I went very slow and careful and was by myself except when other people were needed for lifting parts. I used about 5 new playing cards to level the slate. I did use the supplied "grout" which is why it took 2 days since it dried overnight. I am glad I used this because it is not typical grout, it is more like an extremely hard glue. DO NOT OVER APPLY. It dries incredibly hard and is very difficult to sand. I also loosely bolted the apron to the upside down bumpers and then attached the metal corners with the screws. This seemed a lot easier and kept the apron square when assembling. ... show more

  • Decent table, but there are some downsides ... Decent table, but there are some downsides ...
Style: Donovan II Slate
Once we got all of the frustration out of the way, it's been a decent table. Not perfect, but if I wanted perfect, I would have paid five grand for a way better table. Overall, I feel like I got my money's worth, but there are some things you should be aware of: 1) It's likely not going to arrive in perfect condition. Mine had a few small dings on the black skirt, but fortunately they're in spots where you can't see them unless you're really looking for them. 2) The felt is cheap. If you have the means, get a more durable felt. The one it comes with is glue-on, so you won't be able to staple it like you do on a more professional table. Fortunately, we haven't had problems with it being loose or anything. The glue (spray-on adhesive) worked better than I thought it would. However, after one day of playing, we already have a few small pinholes appearing in random spots on the table, and we don't do masse or jump shots. It's just weak felt. 3) One of the pieces of slate arrived shattered. I knew when I ordered the table that this could be a possibility, so I wasn't taken by surprise. If this happens to you, the manufacturer quite literally says in the instructions that they inspect the products before they're shipped, so if there is damage to the table, don't call them. Call the shipper. The shipper will tell you to call the manufacturer. I called Amazon, itself. The lady on the phone first offered me a 30% discount on the table, and wanted to call it even. Which means I would have still been paying $800 to $900 for a table I couldn't use. So I told her, "NOPE!" Then she wanted me to pack up the entire table and ship it back, and I again said, "NOPE! It's a 771 pound package that is 75% assembled already. I just need a piece of end slate." So here's the way they take care of that -- please remember this, because it will save you a ton of headache if it happens to you: They will ship an entire new pool table to your house, but instead of unloading that whole thing, they'll just open the slate box, pick out the undamaged piece of slate that you need, and give that to you. Then they'll take your damaged slate back with them. They'll never take that new table off of the truck. And you won't have to pack up and return the table you already have. They're just giving you a new part and taking your bad part ... they just have to do it in a really weird way. 4) The accessories might as well not even be included. The rack is too tight, so you'll want to get a new one. It seriously lifts up the balls when you try to take it off of a fresh rack. The brush they give you is a tiny little nothing of a brush. Just buy a soft bristled hand-held one from Walmart or something. The sticks that come with the table are the absolute bottom of the barrel sticks. They're seriously what I would have expected if we ordered a child's novelty pool table. They're good for very small children, but that's it. For an adult, they are virtually unusable. HOWEVER, there's a reason I'm giving it three stars instead of 1-2. Once I got it all put together -- and even considering the weaknesses -- this is a pretty good table for the price. It's level and fairly solid. It's easy to assemble. Any problems with the product itself was handled swiftly and very politely by Amazon. If your intentions are to buy a family style pool table ... something you can put in the basement or garage and casually shoot pool with the kids ... then this is a great table. If your intentions are to practice pool every day and become your own living version of Tom Cruise from "The Color Of Money," save up a couple grand more and buy a seriously better table. But if you're willing to shell out $3500 to five-digits on a brand new, professional pool table, I'm going to assume you're probably not going to get that through Amazon (or online at all). ... show more

  • No response from customer service 🙁 No response from customer service 🙁

See follow up to this...I sent this message to their customer service department over a week ago. They keep saying they will get back to me. No resolution yet...I ordered a new Mizerak pool table for my husband's 72nd birthday. We previously had a Mizerak table that he and his friends enjoyed for several years but was ready to be replaced. It is the same model but he is unhappy with some changes that have been made in the product. #1. The leveling feet are much more flimsy plastic and one won't even go up. He had to place a board under it to level the table. #2 The opening for the ball return is much smaller and he can barely get his hands in there to retrieve the balls. #3 The biggest problem is that the balls stick in both return pockets near the ball return and have to be pushed through each time and the table is level. Can you suggest how this can be resolved? I spent a lot of money on this gift. How disappointing that it does not meet expectations. Hope to hear back from you soon. We did hear back and after sending them a video of the issues described the resolved this by sending us a brand new table at no charge. That indeed exceeded our expectations. Pool night is much more enjoyable now. ... show more

  • Love this Pool Table. Nice for the price. Love this Pool Table. Nice for the price.
Style: Dynasty
I received this pool table with no problems. This was a birthday gift for my Dad and needless to say he was quite happy with it!. It was not that difficult to put together. A little elbow grease and a extra pair of hands by my husband, it was up in an hour. Quite a lot of packaging and styrofoam which was expected; nice extra work for the garbage men to take. It was packaged well with no scratches. The delivery guy does call you to let you know his scheduled ETA which is helpful when having to be on the lookout for it. From reading other reviews before buying this table; many others had to bring the pool table into the home as the delivery guy does not bring it in for you. The pool table is quite heavy to lift. With the help of my mother, (yes mother); she's quite strong for her age and with the help of two furniture moving dollies; we were able to bring it into the house. My dad and husband were out on a errand when the pool table arrived so 'Girl Power' was in full effect. There were no missing parts which I was happy about and the directions were easy to follow. It was a little annoying at first to get the table leveled but after a few test trials, it was perfectly in place. This is a very nice pool table for the price. I can now look forward to having many fun games of pool with my dad and family. I think staying up past midnight playing says it all! :-) ... show more
