I was pleasantly surprised by this backpack. I was afraid that it would be flimsy and cheaply made, but it seems to be the opposite. While the nylon is in fact lightweight, it is textured and reinforced and should be able to carry a heavy load without ripping or tearing. The straps also seem well-made and securely fastened to the pack. There are three zippered compartments: 1) A small front compartment that is lined with waterproof material. 2) A medium-sized middle compartment that's roomier and has a slip pocket for organizing things; it also comes with a separate packing-cube type container. 3) The largest back compartment, which also has a slip pocket for organizing, and a smaller zippered pocket near the top for securing and quickly accessing keys, money, etc. There are also two side mesh pockets that are large enough for securing a water bottle or stowing your phone. The pack itself can be folded, rolled up, and stored in the included stuff sack. This stuff sack is secured by a cord to the interior of the large compartment, where it can be used for further organizing contents. The cord also ensures that the stuff sack won't get separated from the backpack and lost. Generally speaking, the backpack should be stored unfolded and the stuff sack only used when you're stowing it in a suitcase for later use. Overall, this backpack is roomy and well-made. There are "little things" that add to the ease of use and functionality of this back, such as the adjustable straps, d-rings for hanging things, a top handle for easy transport, and even a built-in whistle on the chest strap claps, which I hadn't even noticed until I read other reviews. This is something I wouldn't have even thought about, but could be life-saving in certain circumstances.     • Literally take this bag everywhere

Its become a staple of my car, much like I keep a nice umbrella in my car at all times, I keep this backpack folded up and in my car at all times. You never know when you will need it, shopping, camping, picking stuff up, kids toys or books or whatever. No its not the most comfortable. But its solid, well made and packs down well. I would never make this my primary backpack, I tend to use really expensive ones that I know will never break or rip and will always be comfortable. but its nice to have this as a back up. On a recent camping trip I packed this inside my back pack. Wife was making jokes until we needed to stop and grab supplies and we got to use the back pack instead of some crappy plastic bag. I love the capacity of this bag. That alone makes this a good value for the price. If you have never shopped for hiking bags, then you won't know size determines the price to some degree. 25L is a common size for a day pack but it's fairly small. This bag at 45L is great for a weekend trip. I greatly appreciate the larger capacity. There's a variety of pockets for keeping frequently used items handy. This bag even came with a surprise mesh bag inside one of the pockets that would be great for first aid items or toiletries. (It is about the size of a toiletries bag, but can be used for many different things.) You also have the additional storage space of the pouch that this pack comes in. It is tethered to the inside of the pack so that you don't lose it and can use it for other items when the pack is in use. This pack is made of a lightweight yet durable nylon making it comfortable to carry. As long as you can adjust the straps for a correct fit, this bag is comfy. I'm 5'2 and found the straps to be too long for the perfect fit, but I was able to adjust them for the most comfortable fit it would provide, with a little extra length leftover for taller people in my family that may use this bag at some point. This bag is well constructed and durable, the zippers work well. They slide without sticking or getting caught. The buckles work well and feel durable. I don't expect them to break. The straps are easy to adjust even when wearing the pack. You don't need to take the pack off to make minor adjustments, making this more user friendly. I rate this at 5 stars for durability, functionality, capacity and comfort. I would recommend this product for campers and hikers. I feel that it's a good value for the price. ... show more

We just took this bag on a trip to Mexico. It is great that you can just throw the folded bag in your luggage and then you have a backpack whenever you need it! We found a lot of use for this backpack in Mexico when we went horse back riding, to the beach and on hikes. It is made of a thin but durable material so it is light and packs well. The straps are pretty comfortable and it has a chest strap to keep it on you, even while horse back riding. It has pockets for water bottles and all the standard pockets that you would expect a backpack to have and it all stuffs into a little pouch and weighs less than 1 lb. ... show more

So this is supposed to be a lightweight easily pack-able backpack. It weighs in at a whopping 1.1 lbs which is heavy for something I’m going to be putting in a checked bag. By comparison my current beach bag this is mean to replace is 9oz. This is also massively bulky packed into the carry bag it is tethered to. 9x5x4” It would be smaller just laid flat and not stuffed into a carry bag. Maybe I’m just missing the point of this thing. I wanted a lightweight backpack for hauling stuff around when getting off on cruise excursions. This will take up too much weight and space in our luggage. I would look elsewhere for a packable backpack. Needs to be way lighter. ... show more
