My jumping spider, Martha, is getting on in years. She used to patrol the acrylic walls of her enclosure like a tiny, eight-eyed security guard. Lately, her climbing ability has waned. She spends most of her days on the ground, looking up at the world she once ruled. I knew she needed an upgrade; a sort of arachnid retirement village with easy access. That’s when I found this miniature wooden treehouse. The package arrived, and the little house was perfect. Almost. The roof had a slight overhang. This would prevent it from sitting flush against the enclosure wall. My plan involved magnets, so this was a problem. I took the tiny house to my workshop. I carefully sawed off the overhanging edge of the roof and sanded it smooth. The house was now ready for its primary modification. I glued a wide, powerful magnet to the back of the treehouse. I held another magnet on the outside of the enclosure. The house snapped into place inside, suspended a 6 inches off the ground. Martha was initially suspicious. She just stared at it like an alien had just plopped a house in her cage (I suppose that's true). I worried she might reject her new, custom-built accessible home. I left her to contemplate her real estate options. About an hour later, I returned. There she was. She had successfully climbed the tiny ladder and settled inside the house. She had taken up residence in her new loft apartment. I never saw her make the journey up the ladder; spiders prefer to conduct their business in private. But she’s in there now, warm and secure. It seems this little treehouse is the perfect final home for a spider who has seen it all. It’s well-made and, with a little modification, perfectly suited for a very, very tiny tenant. ... show more

Cute, but not exactly what was expected based on the picture. The treehouse is well built and good quality as mentioned. However, I was expecting a raised tree trunk as part of the fairy garden accessory. I now realize the item is the house only with a thin fabric ladder that hangs loose. So the size is actually 3" x 3" in size, and the ladder is about 6" long It's ok. It will be cute in the right place. ... show more

This tree adds a nice feature to my miniature dioramas. It is crafted very well and could easily be painted, though I haven't decided if I want to do that or if I'm going to keep the natural look. The ladder is made of a felt-like material and hangs a little bit crooked, but it fits the woodsie theme. The one feature that I don't like is that the roof does not open up; I hesitate to pry it up because I might break it. I wish that I could, because I'd like to put some miniature furniture in it and put curtains on the windows. ... show more

This adorable little wooden treehouse is a great item for a variety of crafters. It is a basic wood structure, except for the stairs, which are a thick felt. It's pretty much an unfinished little house, ready for your paint, stain, embellishments and general creativity. This would be a great addition to a fairy garden-if sealed, or if used indoors. I ordered this cute little house to decorate my house plants on my porch. It's actually quite lightweight and a little bit delicate; however, it meets my needs because you can place it gently near your plants and not harm them. It has cute details like a little ladder which you can adjust to hang downward or horizontally. It would be very easy to paint it any type of design or make it colorful. However, I like the natural woodwork. I've placed it near jade plants, which now look like trees beneath it. Nine bucks is a little steep, but watch the listing for a discount. This cute little house will fit in really cute with your fairy garden. I don’t believe I would put it outside where it’s going to get inclement weather on it, but it would be cute for an indoor terrarium type of fairy garden. I’m sure the ladder could be removed if you did not really want it and just wanted the house and to let you know that the ladder is made of what looks like some sort of fake suede material so it’s flexible And can be moved in a direction that you want it to be.
