I wasn’t sure about this set, since the size is larger than standard table ware, So it’s been sitting in the box for months. I just took it out & washed it. It is so beautiful I don’t know what I was thinking. The finish on the stainless is mirror shinny. Just gorgeous!! The gold braiding, 24 K Gold -beautiful! It’s so pretty I’m afraid to use it! Each piece is heavey weight. I’ve never had such beautiful day tableware in my life. This set is so beautiful, I can forget about using my fancy sterling silver. I choose this one because it said it’s totally dishwasher safe & other sets with a similar design said to wash it by hand. You can’t go wrong with this set. I can’t wait to use it. Elegant enough for a fancy dinner & fine for everyday. I haven’t put it in the dishwasher, but I’m expecting it to be great. I’m throwing out all my mismatched stainless. I got the 12 piece place sets. I don’t know how my past tableware started disappearing. But I’m so glad I took the plunge. I studied each possible choice before deciding on this set. I had purchased this set from Macy’s approximately 10 years ago. Decided I needed more than service for 12 so I bought 2 more sets. They are beautiful, stunning really, and I run them through the dishwasher. Just like new. They have a great weight - sturdy but elegant.

    • Not all flatware is created equal
Unfortunately, I did not like this pattern once received. I thought it looked rather cheap. It was poorly manufactured. The balance of the utensils were off kilter. One spoon will be heavier on one side than another same place spoon. This is so for all of the pieces. They did not feel significant and sturdy in my hand. Quality control has gone downhill for many companies it seems. There were scratches somewhere on each piece. I admit I am having a hard time finding a set that is of a caliber to represent these "used to be" reputable houses. I have returned these and am still looking. ... show more

Exactly as pictured, nice weight and very adaptable to both casual and formal dinner plates and table settings. Overall a value for the $$$- Highly recommend! Amazon delivered earlier than expected so I had in plenty of time for my dinner party. Ordered a second set after trying out the first.

I like them but one knife had a manufacture defect on the tip and it wasn't worth me paying to ship it back to Mikasa for replacement. Nice quality and balance. Pretty, the gold tone is not overwhelming to the eye. Works great with my Mikasa plates that have gold trim on them.
