These logs look like the real thing, and also arrived very well packed in a sturdy box with lots of packing to prevent any breakage. They are also heavy compared to some that are about the same weight as styrofoam. These seem to be made out of something like ceramic that might have been fired for strength. I have no idea what the process in producing them is but thats the first impression. They stack well about any way you might desire to place them. These were not used in the typical gas’s log fireplace set up but were used in one of a more modern looking set up that has a straight 40” long burner and the chunks of glass distributed around the burner. I had seen a newer version of the same set up at a local propane and fuel oil distributor that also sold gas long sets and the one like we own that had the logs placed in front of the burner and behind the burner and smaller ones placed over the front and back log placement. Of course my wife has more the knack of setting something up like this than I. After she worked her creative placement I think it looks great and more in keeping with what something that should represent a fire based heat source should appear to resemble. Just my thoughts! They do seem to help with producing more heat but not to the point of being a dangerous amount but more warmth is felt when the fans are on to blow air into the room. Our logs did soot up a bit in a couple of places due to the flame actually going against the log which is to be expected. The soot brushes off with a light brushing with a soft paint brush but it also gives the impression it’s a charred log. This is not because of the log but I feel is probably placement. A little tweaking might solve that problem. All and all we are very pleased with the purchase ,and was impressed with the way they looked and arrived in fine shape. We would definitely buy again. After seeing our logs we felt the pricing was was more than fair. No regrets. ... show more

Looks like real wood, I wished there were a few more pieces. For how much they cost bit high priced. Quality is is top notch though so can't complain get what u pay for.

I was happy with the realistic appearance. They were used no more than 5 times in a vent free fireplace (not directly exposed to flame). Took them out to clean with a soft brush and the biggest one broke in two while simply holding one end and brushing! Wires hanging from the interior. These logs look very realistic and they worked great in my small gas fireplace to replace to OEM fake looking logs. They are very solid and the flat bottoms make them easy to place securely in the firebox. Although they are more expensive than others, they look great.
