It says not to wear it in pools or the ocean or the shower but I have worn it in the ocean and the shower and sleep with it on and so far the gold hasn't worn off and no discoloration. The links are still in tact but the clasp does not stay shut had it almost fall off. Update I did reach out to the company through Amazon and they stood by their product.
