Both left and right ones ball joints went out in 4 months. Waisted money .

  • These need prepped. These need prepped.
I replaced both lower control arms with these replacements, and have had to take them off twice. The shock bolts snapped on both sides (1 of 2 on each side) and, unfortunately, they spot welded the top heads. Had to completely disassemble and use a cutting wheel to put old bolts in. New bolts were grade 8, but looked like plastic painted with brass. Stock bolts are 10.8 After putting them back on, I noticed the boots have no rings when one top had popped off and wouldn't stay put. The other side had small holes, unnoticeable until you grease them and the grease oozes out when flexed even slightly. Not saying I wouldn't buy them again, it just would have saved a lot of time having a cutting wheel, better studs and different boots ready prior to installing. Edit- Gonna make this update quick.. accidentally hit the back button. Exactly 3 months of being installed. Driver side ball joint plate broke 2 of 4 rivets, I assume from rust in a state it doesn't snow or get salted. Remaining two rivets are extremely "stretched." Everything not painted is rusted. Boot is dry rotted and exposes grease/ball when flexed. If I snapped the last two, my wheel would be in someone's windshield. It ruined various other parts that were replaced during the same time. My hub bearings are shot and the slop bore all the bolt holes associated with the control arm. Passenger side same thing, but instead of rivets busting the snap ring rusted and popped half way off. You know.. the ring securing the ball joint in place. Still a lot of play, and also bored holes while ruining that hub. 1200 dollar all-terrain Goodyear tires.. musing chunks of rubber and shaved down 3/4 tread.. in a trip home. Seriously thought I just had a couple tires on the verge of being flat and wasn't too far away. Anyways.. pics. ... show more
