  • Works very well.
Style: With Micro B Connector
You need two harnesses to make this work in a Toyota, but it works as advertised. Highly recommended. You need the $20 Sony harness and the $12 Toyota 20-pin harness. It's a near spliceless setup needing only a power tap into the $20 Sony harness. Otherwise, plug and play. Not stock wires are affected. ... show more

  • Very simple install
Style: With Micro B Connector
As long as you visit the website and enter the correct vehicle information, this is a breeze to install with their instructions. Fortunately for me, the factory wires that I needed to connect were not being used by the new radio’s harness I was able to connect this to my vehicle without having to tap into the factory harness at all. Once everything was connected and powered on, the unit took a few seconds to recognize what it was plugged in to and worked right away. All of my controls worked without me having to program any of it. ... show more

  • Erratic button issues? Read this review for pointers......or not, mine still not working right.
Style: With Micro B Connector
Was a bit confusing. It wanted me to attach it to a blue wire with a red strip..... Well..... Obviously Ford likes blue wires with red stripes as there was 3 behind the radio. One was an unused pin on the factory speaker harness the other was on what I guess was the connector for the old rear seat audio panel the last wire was bundled in a harness running behind the radio to an unknown box behind the glove box. I assumed it wasn't the one in the harness just passing through. I first tried the one on the speaker wire harness and it didn't work, I then tried the wire on the rear audio control harness and the steering wheel controls started working. mine started malfunctioning after about 5 months. when pressing the volume down or up it will occasionally change to the next song. i disassembled and removed the wire tap used to connect this to the wire on the factory harness for the steering wheel controls and directly spliced it together for better connection and no more issues yet...... Issues reappeared next day and after a month of coping and ignoring the issue I revisited it. I researched how to open the steering wheel and went to the scrap yard and found some button modules in good shape and replaced my control buttons on my 03 expedition which is easy if your brave enough to handle the air bag as it must be detached, be very careful of the air bag. Disconnect battery and let vehicle sit for 30min to deenergise the computer modules prior to touching anything that has anything to do with the airbag systems. After replacing the buttons all is well for 3days and ticking. If your having issues I'd still start with making sure your wire job is good then suspect the button modules on you vehicle. 3 days was all i got out of the fix, buttons have been acting up constantly. this thing is becoming more work than its worth. I contacted support for help before the warranty expires and am waiting on a reply. all wires soldered for best conductivity, has its own ground (doesn't share same ground as headunit). firmware up to date on ASWC-1 and headunit. vehicle doesn't exhibit any other issues that would lead me to believe it is a factory wiring issue. all other buttons on steering wheel for cruise and AC work perfectly with absolutely no issues so im sure its my ASWC-1 malfunctioning. it started acting up in late spring so i wonder if it couldn't handle Texas heat? ... show more

  • If you know how, it will work with Chinese Android Head Units.
Style: With Micro B Connector
My typical Ford radio did what typical Ford radios do, fail to light up the LEDs so the time came to replace it. I replaced it with a typical Chinese Android head unit. The typical Chinese head unit did not come with any instructions. Typical. So I searched the internet regarding typical installation of Chinese Android head units. I found out I needed an interface, so I purchased a METRA AXTC-FD1 STEERING WHEEL CONTROL & ACCESSORY INTERFACE. Well with my typical luck this unit did not work so I called Metra. The nice people at Metra told me I bought the wrong interface. The interface I bought was only good for my car if I had the factory navigation unit. They told me I needed the ASWC-1 unit, so I purchased it. It went in really easy, but it too did not work. I called Metra back and explained it did not work. They told me the ASWC-1 was not designed to work with the Chinese Android units but if I tried to change the head unit manufacturer from the one recognized by the ASWC-1 to others on the compatibility list using the ASWC Configuration-Axxess Updater Program, by trial and error I might find one that would work. I went to the PAC Audio website. They sell a unit similar to the ASWC-1 called the SWI-RC-1. This unit does not automatically configure to the head unit, but instead, must be programmed using DIP switches. I looked at their compatibility list and found “2-Wired Resistive” and “Android Radio”. Both used the same settings. I then looked for a brand that used the same settings and that was also on the ASWC-1 compatibility list and found that Visteon used the same settings as the “Android Radio” on the PAC unit and was also on the ASWC-1 compatibility list. I set the ASWC-1 to recognize the head unit as a Visteon using the ASWC Configuration-Axxess Updater Program, reinstalled the head unit, programmed the head unit to recognize the buttons pressed on the steering wheel control and everything worked. In short to get this unit to work with a Chinese Android head unit: 1) Do all your wiring according to the instructions of the ASWC-1 and any information you can get regarding the head unit. 2) Install the ASWC-1 into the car and turn the car key to the on position. 3) Let the ASWC-1 recognize the car. 4) Turn off the car and remove the ASWC-1 unit. 5) Hook the ASWC-1 unit to your computer as per the instructions using a USB cable. 6) Boot up the ASWC Configuration-Axxess Updater Program. 7) Choose SWC Configuration then Visteon under the drop down menu. 8) Disconnect the ASWC-1 from your computer and re-install the ASWC-1 in your car. 9) On the head unit assign functions to each button. 10) Enjoy!!!! ... show more
