  • 5 stars because it is the best dash kit for an Accord, period.
Style: Kit Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I was very conflicted after reading reviews, but I bought this anyway. I installed in a 2004 Honda Accord, manual AC controls, installed a Pyle double din 7" screen stereo. Also I had the old single din version of this dash kit for years, this kit resolves all the issues I had with that kit. For the price this is a great looking way to customize your dash and install an updated stereo. I'm going to bullet point things that I would have found informative prior to buying: 1. (Good) It is backlit, despite what other users said. I uploaded user pics of this kit in the dark, hopefully they are added. 2. (Good) There are plugs on the back for either the manual AC or the Auto, I used the manual version for my car and it works flawlessly. Both the driver and passenger side control the temp and all functions are relatively easy to activate. 3. **edit** Apparently this was due to the stereo I bought being larger than a standard double din. (Retracted) The double din slot DID NOT fit the Pyle double din stereo I bought. I used a dremel to remove 1/4" of plastic around the hole and it fit the double din radio perfectly, looks flawless without using a stereo trim panel. 4. (Good) Programming the unit is done after you have it all wired up. I simply held the indicated button for 10 seconds, then left it alone for 2 minutes while it set itself. 5. (Good) Changing the color of the main LED works great. You can customize the day color and night color independently of each other. 6. (Surprising) You do have to cut and discard a 6 inch bottom V plastic piece from the factory plastic dash piece that remains. This piece is immediately over the stock bottom flip open compartment and if you restored back to stock it would not be visible. There is no other way to fit a double din slot without doing this, so it is necessary. I was going to dremel this, but a hacksaw made a cleaner cut and took 2 seconds. 7. (Good) This kit included the wiring harness for the dash kit AND a stock Honda radio patch kit. I had saved the old one I had, but was happy to use the new one instead. 8. (Good) Forget buying the optional shelf underneath. The stock shelf takes a little maneuvering the get back in there and the door is not able to open/close any longer due to the lack of space above it. Despite this it looks and fits great and retains a factory look while it is open. 9. Wiring is all color coded and uses the standardized colors used in all aftermarket radio harnesses. This is extremely simple. I was able to install the stereo in the dash and solder+heatshrink all but 2 connections before installing this into my car. The two connections I had to solder in the car were my mono amp's signal wire and a parking brake ground wire specific to my stereo. ... show more

  • Works and looks great! Makes me feel like I have a new car. Suggestion: use a professional installer to install it.
Style: Kit Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
About my car: It is an 04 Accord with manual climate controls. Initial thoughts: I was skeptical that it wouldn't work based on the reviews here. However, many of the negative reviews are from people that installed it themselves. I didn't take any chances and took it to a professional to install. Results: It works great! I needed to buy an antenna extension (around $10) to hook up the new radio in the unit. The buttons for the climate controls sometimes take a couple seconds to register what you want it to do, but other than that the controls are pretty straight forward. This is definitely worth the buy if you're looking for a long term upgrade to your car. Recommendations: Buy an extension for the antenna, since you will need it. Take it to a professional to install to ensure it works (not Geek Squad, but an actual business dedicated to car audio). ... show more

  • Good replacement for dash
Style: Kit Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Got this because my stereo quit working and I wanted to install a new stereo without it looking ugly. Everything works as expected, but the buttons aren’t backlit, so you’ll have to know where they are when you drive at night. The buttons do stick a little because they’re pretty squishy, but it’s not a huge issue. While I miss the more tactile feel of the original dash, this one is a good enough replacement. It’s a bit overpriced for me, but again it’s worth having a cleaner look if you are putting in a new stereo anyway. Tl;dr Works well, can’t see buttons at night. ... show more

It gives you clear instructions and very easy to assemble. Not only that. All you need a number 2 screwdriver. And wire stripper/ crimper to help take tabs off the old kit and the car and also to crimp your connections safely

Loving this dash kit. I drive a 2003 LX with a single zone manual climate control and it works a charm. A lot of people say that their buttons don't light up, well, mine didn't ... until I turned my headlights on. The lcd customization is a very nice feature. I just wish you could change the color of the button back light. They are a kind of muted amber and while definitely visible, not exactly a close match to factory. I had a friend who is a professional installer do the install for me. He recommended I get the Metra replacement pocket as well and I like how clean that pocket looks. My previous install was a factory mp3 player along with the main radio so this is the first time in many years I've had a full pocket. Haven't had a door to miss. This new unit and the new double din it allowed me to have put into my car have brought my 2003 car into the modern age of car electronics and I love it. ... show more

Product just started throwing out codes. Blowing AC on high in the winter wouldn’t cut off. Now won’t even cut on. Called company and keep getting the run around of how it’s not their product and it needs an update. Have to pay for someone to do an update. Was professionally installed. Customer service sucks. Will not purchase another. Be warned it will stop working after 8-9 months for no reason. DO NOT BUY. ZERO STARS TOR PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE ... show more

  • It's okay!
Style: Kit Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
My OEM radio fizzed out after 10 years in my Honda Accord. I read all the reviews on this Metro insert and thought that it would be a great idea. I definitely solved the problem of the radio not working but it does have a few issues. First, it took away the MAX A/C function that was stock with my Honda. Secondly, on the feature of both head and foot air- the Metra must have a timer set for 2 mins or so on the foot and then 2 mins or so on the head/face area- but the shift is pretty weird. I will say that I took this Metra product to Best Buy and had them install it and they were able to adapt it to the original closure compartment that was also stock on my Honda and sits below the radio- thankfully because the only option was to have a completely open compartment. This product is rated just okay because it's just that; it's not wonderful- it just works. ... show more
