Very good quality, not the waterproof hiking shoes, but I didn’t feel I needed them. The weight is good. Support should be good once I try on with the correct socks. Love the color, Brindle/Tea. On the box it showed the color lighter then they actually are, which I’m happy about. The toe box is great. Someone responded to my question if I order a size 8, will it be wide enough, normally wear a size 7 1/2 wide. The gal told me yes they would. I went one step further and called Merrell customer service, and she told me yes, if the review by Amazon and the gal that responded said get the 1/2 size larger then do it. So very happy I listened. They are perfect. I didn’t want to have to return. 12-31-23: I haven’t been wearing my hiking boots, which I love, but the laces are to short, they keep coming undone, so when I got back from my walk today, took laces out to measure- round lace at 46” long. There are 5 eyelets per side which is a total of 10. I looked online, 10 eyelets they should have 72” length. Shame on you Merrell. It would be nice to get a free pair of laces from Merrell, but I’m not holding my breath. 12-31-23: NOT MERRELLS FAULT, was this old ladies fault, go thing I’m able to laugh at myself at 71 years young. Look I didn’t realize what the length of the lace should be, I thought it was 10 all together, did not know to divide it, so the actual length was what I got. I chose to go up a size, 36”should be correct. They were round laces, and wouldn’t stay tied, so I ordered 72” length, to long, really never bought laces since I always wore mules. I went up to 40” length, and a flat lace. I have neuropathy in my fingers and feel very little. So very hard to tie my shoes, that’s why I was getting mules. I decided to go with 40” so I can double tie them. Thank you Amazon for letting me cancel my order to the correct length, I was able to cancel since wasn’t shipped yet. These are very comfortable and durable. They grip well, making climbing over/up rocks easy. The tongue is well padded, making snug lacing comfortable. They’re light weight and have good insoles with far more support than most. However, I did swap the insoles out for my own with hard plastic arches and they fit into the shoe well. I’ve only hiked in heat with them so far but I can say they are breathable and not hot. My daughter has this same shoe and hiked in the snow in CO and said they were plenty warm, with good socks, of course. ... show more

Not an avid hiker but bought these for a 6-mile hike that was quite challenging. It rained on and off and these were amazing. Great grip, were water resistant, and were so comfortable - no need to be broken in. They are very roomy in the toe area so I would suggest wearing thick hiking socks. I initially ordered these shoes in a size 7 and 7.5 and kept the 7.5 as the 7 were too small. I am a 7.5 in all my other shoes. I mostly use them to go hiking with my toddler in the parks near us in Colorado Springs. I like that they protect my feet. I especially like the hard toe front that protects my toes from rocks. Overall they are comfortable but a little hard. My feet don't hurt when I step on sharp rocks so I guess the hard bottom is to protect the feet. But I would prefer them to be softer so I might buy an insert. My feet do overheat in them but I've never owned hiking shoes so this might be just a feature of hiking shoes. I never slip when hiking so the traction is really good, which is important since I'm pregnant and don't want to fall. They are great shoes and stylish enough for my 30 year old self. The price for these were amazing, 1/3 cost of the regular price so I'd buy again if necessary. ... show more

I realized I needed a new walking/hiking shoe to replace the Skechers that caused my foot to blister. They are the Dlite light weight model and not made for hard walking. I am not a little person. And I walk hard. The Skechers are fine for fashion but this pair was not made for extensive walking. I bought some insoles for the Skechers as I will still wear from time to time. I got these in an 11 wide width and they are very comfortable and give great support. Merrel is a good brand. I tried them on in a local shoe store and they fit ok even without being wide. But at $120, I was not feeling it. So I got home and ordered these for about $85 and they ARE wide width. Comfortable, made well and will do the job. I highly recommend. ... show more

We had an upcoming trip to Hocking Hills in Ohio and I needed hiking shoes. These Merrell shoes were $40 cheaper than the same shoe at DSW. They have an excellent arch support and are great for hiking the rocks and cliffs at Hocking Hills. Will use these again for a cruise excursion hiking the Mayan ruins. Great fit. One of my pet peeves for a hiking shoe is that it must not slip against my heels. I'll blister and the shoe heel wears out. Not this shoe. It fits snug without being too tight. The shoes look great. They grip the ground well and are very comfortable. So far I haven't gotten them wet so I'm unable to speak to the waterproof aspect of the shoes. I've been hiking in these for a few weeks. I believe I have nearly 75 miles on them and aside from some dust they look and feel like new. Good and durable. ... show more
