I purchased these two days before a nine-mile ridge line hike on rocky terrain (Ptarmigan Ridge at Mt. Baker for anyone who's familiar with the rough terrain). I'd tried them on at REI, but they didn't have the color I wanted (Falcon), and I was so excited to find them at less than half price on Amazon. I walked a few miles on a flat trail to break them in, but it wasn't really necessary. They have thick cushioning which provides a snug fit for medium width feet, with plenty of room in the toes for a thicker sock. I prefer the lower profile to the medium boot as it allows more maneuverability, and I didn't feel like I was sacrificing support while having full range of movement in these shoes. Needed hiking shoes with larger tread numb to stop sliding on steep rocky slopes and gravel. I wanted a lower boot vs my high top boots that were too hot for summer heat. Decent arch support. I bought 1/2 size larger for sox. That was a great choice as I had plenty of toe room. Flexible and did not require break in time that some too stiff soles cause. I would buy again. ... show more

I bought these because they are highly rated, and the brand is known for good quality. These seemed to be really well-made, but they just didn't feel comfortable to me. It felt like the insoles were flat and hard. I bought my usual size 8 that I wear in New Balance, Skechers, and Keen, so I'm sure the size was correct. I had to return them. ... show more

I literally had no time to break these in. I was recommended by someone who enjoys hiking and walking. These were not a let down. I barely started to get blister on the heel after me hiking more then 12+ miles. They were comfortable and definitely work for wide feet. I just spent a week hiking in Canada. These shoes are awesome, fit great, handle multiple terrains and still look brand new. I did wear them for a couple of days before I went hiking to make sure they were comfortable. I also sprayed them with Camp Dry. These are my go to shoes now for hiking.

I purchased these for a trip to Olympic National Park. I wore them all day for hiking and my feet felt great... until we were climbing back down. Coming back down my toes were cramed in the toe box, definitely should have sized up a half (my own fault as I usually do with "boots"). Other than that the shoes were great.
