I bought these boots after seeing them listed as a best budget hiking boot/shoe in a New York Times evaluation. I was skeptical, as my feet are flat, of slightly different sizes and increasingly difficult to fit with comfortable supportive shoes. One foot has a large bunion. But I'm taking a trip to Eastern Europe this summer and anticipate many hours walking on cobblestones and other uneven territory, and purchased these with fingers crossed. I'm delighted with them! They're wide enough to forgive various foot deformities, have a broad solid sole that makes me feel very stable while walking and were broken in after about ten miles of walking. I did buy memory foam inserts to make the insoles a bit more cushiony, but these are great quality hiking shoes. I bought these for light hiking in rainy weather. I stood in a puddle as a test and my feet stayed dry. I wear a medium-wide size 8 and these are true to size. They’re a bit stiff so feel clunky on the street. When I walk in uneven, rocky trails they’re steady and supportive. Only 4 stars because the footbed is hard. My shoe size is somewhere between an 8 and 8 1/2, but I usually buy 8 1/2s out of caution, because of an old injury in my right foot. As I looked at these Moab 3's, I noticed Amazon recommended an 8, and I'll admit I pondered a few minutes whether to follow their recommendation before taking a leap of faith. I'm very happy I did, as these size 8's fit great, there's decent room in the toe box (which is critical for my injured foot), and no pinching anywhere. They came brand new in a sealed box. I ordered the Smoke color, and on my laptop display, the mesh fabric in the Amazon picture looked like a cold gray, and the leather looked like warm brownish gray. The sole in the Amazon pic looked considerably darker than the uppers. In the shoes I received, the mesh fabric is more like a country blue (blue gray), and the leather is a warm gray color but not brownish as in the Amazon page. Also, the sole in the ones I received are closer to the color of the leather, but just a hair darker. All in all they look and feel great. I'm very happy with this purchase, and the next time Amazon recommends a size, I'll be even more inclined to follow their recommendation. ... show more

The pictures don’t portray the brightness of the blue in the shoes, especially in the sunshine. I gave this four stars because of the color only I love the way, Merrell shoes, fit and weR.

I bought them because I stand all day on cement floors. Not so good after 4 hours but they look athletic and feminine. Wear them quite a bit!
