These shoes are AWESOME!! I buy these for my boys each time they grow out of their old shoe sizes. They hold up amazingly well for having two boys who play outside in the dirt every day. The Merrell Trail Chaser shoes are perfect for our boys ages 6, 10 and 12. We buy them over and over. Not to give the impression that they don't hold up - on the contrary. They hold up great for our boys who are hard on their shoes - daily wear, life in the country - think cow pen, creek, rocks, puddles, dirt roads, etc. The traction is so good on these shoes. They have lot of fun colors to chose from. They wash up nicely in the washer and dryer. The style works for boys or girls depending on the color you choose. These are high quality shoes. Worth the price. My boys wear them through the winter, suggesting they are warm and stay dry. I don't know if they are waterproof but they work for us. Purchases for a camping trip with my six-year-old boy. The fit is great and it’s easy for him to put this on. They look good and are comfortable, but we have had them for about a month and a half and probably wears them 2 to 3 times a week to school. Fairly early, I noticed it fraying along the liner (see photo). I would say it was the way he was wearing them except my daughter has the same shoes (diff color) and the same thing happened to hers. I bought my grandson his first pair of these when he was 3. I've been buying them for him ever since. He's now 7. What ever he's doing in them they're great shoes. From hiking trails to riding his bike with his friends they have great grip and traction. Buy the time he out grows them they're worn out and not good for hand me downs, but that's because he's having fun in them. He can run hard and I never worry about him twisting an ankle.
