We have bought this boot several times for our children. The smaller sizes seem to have Velcro straps and big kid variety have an elastic string. They are both easy for little kids to get on and off. We always buy Merrells for our kid as it's a "trusted" brand. However, over the past 3 years we bought around 9 pairs of Merrells and with each new pair the quality seems to get worse. These boots are great, but the laces lasted less than 2 weeks and we couldn't find replacement laces from Merrell. This was a good thing as we found a different brand of lock laces on Amazon which seem far better in quality and so far has lasted well. As for durability, the boots seem to hold up. The first pair was lop sided, but they looked really cute on and granddaughter loved 'em so I ordered another pair and they were fine. Wore them hiking in Alaska and she still wears them just around town.

I got these for my 9 yr old daughter. The color is a little more tan than yellow. They are super cute, not clunky. They are nice since kids wear boots all day inside and out when school is in session and snow is on the ground.
