  • Favorite trail shoe when worn without socks
Size: 10 Color: Lava
Pros: incredible, mountain goat like traction and support with minimal bulk while allowing you to feel the ground. Heel is not overly rigid so can be worn without a layer between heel and shoe. Breathable, functional when wet. Thick supportive upper material that gives firm support but while remaining breathable. Bottom of sole very protective so you will not feel small rocks or roots despite being a zero drop minimalist shoe. Cons: a little snug, especially in toe box. Could be wider without allowing foot to slide around. A little abrasive on top of foot near toes if wearing barefoot (some irritation above 4/5th metatarsal with prolonged use after getting wet). Not very water resistance. Perfect use: short hikes or trail runs on easy to moderate terrain, especially if rocky versus wet/ muddy. Do very well on rocks. Better for runners who foot strike directly underneath.. not a lot of heel cushioning if that's what you need. ... show more

  • A Trustworthy Companion for Diverse Hiking Adventures
Size: 10 Color: Pine/Gum
I recently took the Merrell Men's Trail Glove 7 Sneakers on a road trip across the US, and they proved to be an excellent choice for my hiking adventures. As someone who weighs around 230 lbs, finding comfortable hiking footwear can be a challenge, but these sneakers exceeded my expectations. They provided exceptional comfort and support, even after prolonged periods of hiking, which is a testament to their design and cushioning. The versatility of these sneakers was truly put to the test as I traversed various terrains, from deserts and forests to mountain trails. They held up remarkably well in different environments, offering the stability and grip needed for safe and enjoyable hikes. It's rare to find a pair of sneakers that can adapt so well to such a range of conditions, and these Trail Glove 7s did just that. One piece of advice for potential buyers: be cautious when hiking on really dusty trails. The mesh design of the sneakers, while great for breathability, does tend to let in a fair amount of dust. This wasn't a deal-breaker for me, as they are easy to clean, but it's something to consider if you're not keen on the idea of dust getting between your toes. In conclusion, the Merrell Men's Trail Glove 7 Sneakers are a solid choice for anyone looking for durable, comfortable, and versatile hiking footwear. Their performance across various terrains is impressive, and they manage to provide comfort and support even for a heavier individual like myself. Just keep in mind the mesh's susceptibility to dust on certain trails, and you'll be set for a great hiking experience. ... show more

  • Excellent Addition to Trailglove Lineup.
Size: 10.5 Color: Lava
I've been wearing Trailgloves since Version 2. 4's were my favorite, 5's were ok, I skipped 6 after reading reviews and talking to a friend who got them, and just gave 7's a try. I wear size 10.5 in trail gloves and 11 in most other shoes, that is still true with these 10.5 fits perfect. The addition of more toe and heel protection is welcome, and the over all comfortability is excellent. I like the lacing system so far, much preferred over the 5's, but just from the look of them I'm a bit concerned for the long term durability of how they have it attached; however Merrell hasn't let me down yet and I don't really expect there to be a problem. It has been noted that there isn't as much arch support in these as some previous versions but I find there is more room for my foot to flex which is what Barefoot is all about. I wear the TG's because they provide the underfoot protection I need/want not to get arch support my foot muscles are there for that. I wear these as my every day shoes and stand for 10+ hours at a time, never have foot pain but I've been "barefoot" for a decade now so your experience may vary. ... show more

  • Grippiest shoes I’ve ever worn.
Size: 12 Color: Monument
I’ve had several Merrell shoes and these are par for the course quality wise. The zig-zaggy grip pattern is almost TOO grippy, when I first put them on walking on carpet felt like I was wearing Velcro shoes. We’ve got a multi loop carpet pattern and I’ve caught myself a few times and almost stumbled because my foot unexpectedly got too much traction. Have to be careful walking Olin the yard too, these things pick up everything and good luck to you if you step in doo-doo… The soles are very comfortable and have nice arch support. They also hand wash and dry easily. ... show more

  • Comfortable and presentable walking show with Vibram soles
Size: 9.5 Color: Black/Black
Merrell shoes tend to run narrow, which is great for someone like me with a "B" foot width. This shoe also has plenty of room for a big big toe! The extensive laces allow you to customize the fit. The Vibram soles are perfect for walking, including on gravel. And while practical, the shoes look presentable enough for anything other than formal events. ... show more

  • Merrell can't keep to the simple elements of a barefoot shoe
Size: 11.5 Color: Black/Black
This is a decent shoe. But, like the Trail Glove 6, Merrell has lost track of the few simple rules of a good barefoot shoe. Those are: zero drop, a wide toe box, flexible sole and no arch support. The TG5 met all of these criteria and was a great shoe. With the TG6 (which I did not own) it was apparently the inclusion of arch support that ruined it. With the TG7 it's the toe box. The toebox is too narrow and squeezes on your pinky toe. I do not have a wide foot, it's just an M. I also own the Vapor Glove 6 (the latest). That shoe hits all the marks. A great shoe. But sometimes you need a slightly thicker sole and that's where the TG usually comes in. Now, it's not like the toebox issue is a major dealbreaker. It's just that if you like the ability to fully spread out your toes in your barefoot shoes, this shoe doesn't satisfy. It's just more like a "normal" shoe in that regard. ... show more

  • Awesome minimalist Sneaker
Size: 10.5 Color: Black/Black
Not sure about this entire "it's not a barefoot shoe anymore" discussion. I bought the Trail Glove 7 right after my decade old original Trail Glove (Trail Glove 1??) finally wore out. Yes, it is a little bit less "glovy" which means you can actually put them on wearing socks without your toes curling up in the process. The Trail Glove 7 is a great, light, breathable, very comfortable minimalist hiking shoe that still provides a lot of feed back from the terrain you are walking on. Absolutely love it. ... show more

  • Bad fit. Maybe defective
Size: 13 Color: Black/Gum
Sizing is way off and fit is terrible. Could not wear them. The heel is way too shallow. Size 13 was at least an inch longer than every other 13 I have ever tried. Maybe I received a defective pair or something? I tried the vapor glove and they fit perfect.
