I'm willing to admit the problem I experienced with my Merrell Moab 3 Vent Hiking Shoes (Men, Size 9) might be unique to my own feet, and not the fault of the shoe itself. That said, here's my experience: The shoes arrived and, like so many have noted, felt comfortable right out of the box. Nonetheless, with a camping trip to Yosemite coming up in just a few weeks, I was eager to start "breaking them in" right away on my morning walk the following day... ...which is when the top portion of the Moab 3 upper started to rub against my back heels (about 2" above the bottom of my foot). Unfortunately, I had already gone fairly far outbound, and the pain started while returning inbound to my home. By the time I got there... the back of my foot above the heel had pretty much gone past the blister stage and into the torn blister/raw flesh stage. My right foot was much worse than my left, BTW, lending more credence to the assumption that this is probably a problem with my unique feet, and not a general shoe problem. I mean, so many people love these shoes and have never had a comfort problem, let alone a rubbing/pain issue, so, again, I'm still giving them 4 stars (for quality, looks, etc.). But I wanted to note (as I have read in one or two isolated reviews elsewhere online) that I had a heel rubbing problem. The happy ending to this story is that the return process with Amazon was effortless and quite satisfactory. So I wouldn't let this review necessarily sway you. I normally wear a size 11 so I ordered an 11.5 since I was ordering online from a company other than Amazon. When they arrived they were too small. I went through the hassle of returning them and ordered a size 12 from Amazon, knowing I could easily return them if needed. Thankfully, they fit fine. They were an incredible price on Amazon. REI sells them for $110 (with their annual sale they are 20% off - $88.00 - plus $30 to join their club). I got mine on amazon for $59.00. Loved them so much I got two more pairs. I do a three-mile walk in them every morning. So far I love them. Very sturdy, yet comfortable feel. And I love both colors I got. One note; the color beluga appeared to be black on the pictures online but turned out to be gray. Luckily, the gray color looks great too. ... show more

I have been wearing Merrell Moab shoes for 20+ years with no complaints. When one pair wore out I'd simply purchase another exact same pair. When the Moab 3's came out I was eager to try them out, but not so eager to spend the 100+ dollars that they cost at retail locations (they were priced between $99-$139 at various locations). I found a seller on Amazon that had them for under $70 and immediately ordered them. They came and I found them even more comfortable than the Moab 2's. After wearing them for about a week (I am sometimes on my feet for 10-12 hours doing event work), I went back to the same seller and purchased another pair just in case they ran out of my size. ... show more

I bought a pair of these back in 2017 (pictured on the left in the photo) and have worn them almost every single day for 6 years. I live in a city that is hard on shoes. I never had a pair of Nike or NB last more than six months, so I went to hikers. No regrets; these shoes are freakin' awesome. I ordered a replacement pair in May 2023 for $60 -- slightly *less* than I paid in 2017, though how that works I have no idea. They are identical to the 2017 pair, same quality and out-of-the-box comfort. I hope they are still making them in 2029 when it is time to replace these. ... show more

I like that the shoe, size 12 fit perfectly. I usually try on 11.5 first and some times need 12's. When you order on line you have your finger crossed. They fit so good I purchased another pair in a different color. I then purchased a running shoe in the Merrill brand. So yes I love the brand. Trust the size 12 to fit me. I owned a cold weather Merrill shoe for more than 10 years and just loved how they fit and functioned. The soles were warring out so I had to let go of them. That was the reason I shopped for this brand. If I find more deals on Amazon, I might get another color. If the shoe fits, you will not be disappointed. ... show more

    • My son loves these shoes for disc golf

I bought a pair of these Merrells for my son, figuring with the two feet he has, they might come in useful to him. Turns out he really likes them for disc golf, which is a game played in public parks by creepy dudes who try to throw a frisbee-like disc into a basket made out of chains. I know, weird… Anyway, my son says these shoes are great for disc golf because the traction is great and the uppers seem to be fairly durable and hold up well to the elements. If there’s a chance you’re into disc golf and are actually employed and have the financial means, it’s my understanding you can absolutely buy these shoes with confidence. ... show more

I was surprised at the quality (excellent) and fit (perfect) of these walking shoes. I bought some water proofing spray and treated them. I spent some time letting my feet and legs get accustomed to the weight of these shoes before a trip to Gettysburg Notational Park and they did a great job. These are my fourth pair of Merrill hiking shoes. One pair has “retired” to the garage and he’s waiting for my lawn to be mowed or a painting project. Perfect fit (size 13) for all. Great supporting soles (my plantar fasciitis issues insignificant now. My latest pair has the Vibrian soles - nice and firm and hold up well. Good traction. Don’t need any special insoles, just use the ones that come with them. Will buy again when they wear out. ... show more
