I wanted to replace my older hiking gym shoe with something good....I will be doing a lot of mountain trail hiking soon....I found these and got them. I wore them the day I got them and did a 5 mile walk to help break them in. Very comfortable! Fit perfect. I normally wear a size 12 and these fit perfectly. They are not tight at all so width and overall size is spot on. I had no issues with rubbing or foot fatigue. They have a nice strong fairly stiff sole which is what I really wanted so they will be perfect for trail hiking. They seam well made and appear to breathe nicely. They will get put to that test when I go back out to Arizona and use them for desert hikes. They are not too heavy at all and not light like a running shoe...they are perfectly weighted in my opinion for normal hikes. If you want light weights, you have to get running shoes. If you want strong sturdy soles that will absorb bumpy terrain and get good traction, these work very well! Very happy I got them and would highly recommend them.

I’ve gone on four hikes with these shoes so far, all under different conditions (2.5 miles rocky along a river and challenging over fallen trees and boulders, 1.5 miles rocky and hilly, 1 mile more challenging with very muddy and hilly conditions and crossing shallow water, and 4 miles on flat gravel rail trail. All were warm weather. I didn’t slip at all. The shoes are not waterproof but no water seeped in. The shoes remained comfortable and I was able to clean them well with a brush and water with no damage. Very happy with how they felt, performed, and held up, especially since I have a wide forefoot and the Wide fit me perfectly without heel slippage. I highly recommend these to casual weekend hikers like myself.

I have worn this brand and model of shoe as everyday wear for over 10 years. I love the way they look, and the way they feel. Solid construction, durable sole, and very comfortable to walk in on grass, dirt, rocks, and asphalt. If you're looking for a good activity shoe, this is worth the price.

I've always been a Keen fan but decided to give these a try mostly because of the price. Overall I'm happy with these shoes so here are the Pro's and Con's. PRO'S 1. The overall fit is perfect no need to size up or down. 2. They have a comfortable padded collar that wraps around your ankle and heal for support. 3. They are very easy to slip on and off with the loop pull on the back of the heal. The design is perfect. 4. The color is spot right on with the pictures and the shoes are nice to look at. 5. The quality is very good and the shoes are well put together. 6. The soles are grippy even in wet conditions. 7. I've worn them on a couple of warm sunny days without my feet getting hot. That's a big thing for me. They breath just fine. THE CON'S !. Not much insole padding on these. ( Keen's are much better ) The overall support is good but the shoe in general lacks that nice padded feel. It hits rather hard. 2. You can't add a thick padded insole because it will interfere with the fit of the shoe. I tried it didn't work. 3. I finally added a Dr Scholls foam insole, the thinnest one I could find. It seems to be working but time will tell. That was a $10 hit. So much for trying to save money. 4. This was the one star deduction. I hope the shoes get more comfortable as they brake in and the added insoles do not become a problem. Overall these are great shoes for the price.

#1 These are the most comfortable Merrells I have ever owned. #2 The style is just perfect! Only exception I can think of is the laces - they're great, but I would have made them match the midsole -- black with white specs vs white with black specs-- but I could always switch the laces if I wanted to that bad-- fact is, I won't at least not for now -- #3 the fit is like a glove so to speak - true to size if not a little bit smaller than the usual 10, but the width of the regular D is wide enough in the toe box to allow my wide feet to be able to breathe and not get jammed up against the side with my pinky toe, nor the end with my big toe. #4 durable as the usual heavy duty hikers with the advantage of being very lightweight and as though I am not wearing hiking shoes, not nike ACG running shoes as I normally wear for trail running. #5 Did I mention style? The color combo of black and sand with tan suede -- at first look I was like, "ehh" but I'm so happy I decided to go with this one because in person, they are gorgeous. The pictures don't do them justice. The black midsole is covered in sparkling and the vibram soles are - well the name speaks for itself - but the color is also the perfect compliment to the 2 shades of tan in the suede in the tongue and upper and the light tan mesh lowers and toe box -- Overall (especially when I consider that I got them at half price - I would highly recommend - and I am ordering 2 more pairs (at least) for the future - plus 1 pair just for walking around in every day type situations... A++ Half size up if you are between sizes, and ENJOY!!! -On belay? Belay ON [✓]™

The Merrell Moab is the only shoe I have found that has a toe box which is wide and tall enough not to uncomfortably squeeze my forefoot. Highly recommended if you suffer from hallux rigidus, bunions or bone spurs.
