Let me start off with the fact that I really like this shoe. Although it didn't turn out to be the right shoe for the situation that I wanted it for, I REALLY loved the fit and comfort and have sent my Crocs to Goodwill. If you you are someone who likes Crocs but have some dislikes, these shoes solve all of my dislikes of the Crocs except that I always thought Crocs were too heavy and expensive for their function/build. And because of the added heal cup the Hydro Mocs are even heavier than the same sized Crocs and more expensive. I started looking at these because I am a backpacker and we have more snowpack this year than in recent history which means we will have many stream crossings this year. As a backpacker the items you carry are a compromise between functionality, comfort and weight. For some things like hiking shoes and pack the comfort factor is more important than weight but for camp shoes weight and stream capability outweigh comfort. The weight of these shoes prohibit them from being my camp shoe. At 454gm/pair for size 10 they are on par with the equivalent sized Nike Free 12 (500gm) or Merrell trail glove 11.5 (500gm) or even the Crocs 11 (399) but are significantly heavier than the equivalent sized Merrell Vapor Glove 11.5 at 363gm /pair. I could hike 20 miles in a vapor glove but not in a hydro moc. My current camp shoe the discontinued New Balance 5000 size 12 at 228 gm per pair wins in both weight and traction. Even wet it weighs less than the Hydro Moc. But I still like the Hydro Moc. On a multi-day canoe, kayak , or whitewater rafting trip it might be the best choice. It is a big improvement over the Crocs. But like the Crocs I just can't justify an extra half pound in my pack especially when a lace up shoe is less likely to get lost in a water crossing. Sizing runs large. I typically wear a 11.5 4E and had to go to a 10 in the Hydro Moc.

We were headed to outdoor river activity with a lot of rocks. Saw reviews that these run big, but wow more like run huge! My husband wears a 9 or 10 depending (6’ tall) so I ordered a 9 & 8 to he sure. The 8s worked but he said he probably could’ve gone down a half size or more. Definitely order at least 1 size down. My husband doesn’t have narrow or wide feet, but even if you have wide you’ll need 1 size smaller. If your feet are narrow probably 2. Hope this is helpful for someone else. Also, they were awesome once we had the correct size. In fact my husbands friend liked them so much he left his pair since they don’t sell these in that country just yet.

Husband just had hip replacement so he can’t get regular shoes on due to the bending. He needed easy to put on shoes and these were great the first few days after surgery. They’re lightweight and will be used at the beach too. I read other reviews saying they run large and they do. Since they only come in whole sizes I ordered 1/2 size smaller than usual and they’re a perfect fit. Always love merrell shoes!

I like them because I bought them for beach shoes and for when I am climbing out if my chest wading gear after fishing the surf. I liked the try before you buy. Which gave me time to just wear them around the house with my normal routine to check for for and comfort. Only reservation there is my second toe next to pinky toe rubs a bit still despite me ordering a size larger being 13 instead of 12. My other intention was to see if these would fit over neoprene socks on my chest waders which turned out to be a little snug, so maybe a 14 would be more suited for that. So I tried them, weighed the cost for them but then realized, hey, these are Merills. And those combined factors of comfort, quality and cost, and they are Merills, I'm happy with them.

I am a 10.5 ..and these with or without socks fit just fine. My heel seems to sit a little lower compared to my other, three older brands. I like the added heel piece but have not figured out how to wear the ' strap? (I only test-fit them, so this is a first impression.) Jim

Not a huge fan of Clogs. 🤮, but these are ‘almost’ not clogs. More stylish than Crocs. And the heel flap thing is perfect for slip on and off, while still having some resistance to keep the shoes on. I’m on the water, in the boat and along the shore a LOT and these are the ones for me.
