  • Better quality and performance than most chef's clothing.
Size: Medium Color: Black
I work in a professional kitchen that often gets very hot. The mesh back panel keeps me cool in these conditions and that is a life saver. Some shirts like this look funny because the mesh back panel looks different than the rest of the shirt. These shirts are a uniform color, and the way they are cut and sewn makes them look very professional, unlike some of the overly baggy chef's shirts and tunics I have purchased. I would feel totally comfortable going out to the pub for a beer after work wearing this, as it looks good, fits well, and is almost indistinguishable from a regular black button up shirt. They have also held up to many wash cycles without pilling or losing their dark black color. The sizing is accurate. The price is fair. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • It keeps you cool
Size: Medium Color: Black
I love it it's my favorite shirt to wear to work.

  • The mesh is weird to me, but that's my problem.
Size: Medium Color: Black
I do like the Mercer line, and this jacket/shirt/whatever is made to the same quality standards as their other items. It's a good shirt, comfortable, a bit on the loose side but not outrageously so, and it's made well enough that it's going to last a good while. I just...well, the mesh back is just weird to me. I appreciate that it's cooling, and indeed this shirt breathes better with the mesh than a similar item that is traditionally made, but it just feels a bit strange to me. And yeah, that's probably my issue and nothing wrong with the shirt itself, so take my statement with a grain of salt (no pun intended). All that said, the look and tailoring are flattering without being self conscious, and offer utility that outweighs the fashion considerations. It just looks good, and performs well. I would go almost as far as saying this would work really well in semi-front-of-house (read: customer facing) roles. It's a good product, and if you are better at working through the mesh backing than I am, I think you'll be really happy with this. ... show more

  • Decent but not great quality chef's shirt that has really wide sleeves.
Size: Medium Color: Black
No complaints, really. It is what it is, a useful not-great quality shirt that will get some good use here. I wish that the sleeves were less than enormously wide. The width seemed clown-size and really, really unflattering. Thinking that this must be the sort of uni- accommodation for smaller and larger people, I asked a solid male friend to try it on. "These sleeves are too wide," he said. And so they are. ... show more

  • Hides Stains, Dries Quickly, Looks Professional
Size: Medium Color: Black
This jacket looks professional. It's made of a mesh like fabric that dries quickly and the black color helps hide the inevitable kitchen spills. It covers almost any shirt or blouse you might wear. The color is a true deep black. The sizing is generous.

  • Take your culinary attire to the next level.
Size: Medium Color: Black
Just like I said in the Mercer Culinary cooks pants, the same goes for this shirt, get ready to bring your culinary attire to the next level. I was surprised to see that the medium shirt fit me so well considering my waist actually measures 39 inches. It fits very comfortably. Just like the pants the material is 65% polyester, and 35% cotton. It has a very silky feel to it. It is substantial enough to hold up to the rigor yet thin enough to provide some relief in a hot kitchen. I really love the way the shirt and the pants look. The care instructions are symbols inside of the label which I am unable to decipher. Since they are a cotton poly blend with two thirds of it being poly you can probably apply standard washing instructions for that type of material. I would suggest washing them separately for the first two washes. This is something I am hoping to get a lot of use out of when I create the videos for the diet program that I am on. I spent a lot of time remodeling the kitchen, and now that attire is befitting it. It fits well, lays nice on your body, and enhances your look, not detract from it. ... show more
