This was my 3rd brace after falling on my lower back. I have minor fractures on L1 and L5 and was told to support my lumbar area with a sturdy brace. Going to my local medical devices clinic, they sold me two braces, neither of which would stay on place, nor give me any pain relief, and because they didn’t fit the body, they didn’t give me the support that was necessary. The major issue, as I determined, is that for women, most braces are constructed with no built in shape in the middle back through the waist and lower back. Most braces on the market are ‘one size fits all’ with Velcro pull tabs with heavy strings that are supposed to tighten in a particular area. So, if you have a waist and hips, once you sit down or do any activity of any kind, the brace will ride up, thus not giving the support that it is supposed to supply. Most of these back braces are so cumbersome and thick, they also are extremely hot and uncomfortable to wear. This Mercase brace was ordered as a quick temporary solution until a more permanent brace could be acquired. But, in actuality, it is, by far, the best fitting brace, over anything I’ve tried since then (which includes 2 more braces), neither that surpassed this Mercase brace in support, pain relief or comfort. The Mercase brace has a mesh back with supports which helps to make it more comfortable. The back of the Mercase brace is slightly curved which enables it to fit the middle back area. The lower back area is supported by strong elastic pulls which allows wider more comfortable adjustment. When I sit, nothing rides up. I have worn it several days with no discomfort, or heat. The only fault that I can find is that I wish the brace could be longer in the very low back to support the sacrum area, which I understand is also important in healing any lower back injury.

It was OK but the velcro never worked

The Velcro triangle on the right front would not stick to the other piece. If you are toward the heavier side the Velcro secondary straps are not long enough. It was otherwise comfortable and helped with back pain.

This is working well for a patient with a lumbar compression fracture, but I wish the Velcro was stronger. After one week it has started to not stay put.
