When from time to time my swollen feet and ankles bother me in regular shoes and slippers, these diabetic shoes are so light and comfortable they work for both indoor and outdoor use. The large Velcro top strap could not be more easier. The strap is also very adjustable to how much room you need. Can be super loose or tight, very versatile. There is a lot of grip from the rubber tread and the materials seem very hard wearing. The main thing here is comfort, as these are VERY comfortable. This is for a pair of diabetic men's wide fitting slip-on orthopedic shoes. The comfort offered by this pair of shoes lies in how adjustments can be made using their wide straps with Velcro attached to make the shoes looser or tighter. I ordered this pair for my elderly neighbor to accommodate the chronic pain he feels from achey and swollen feet that are common to people afflicted with diabetes or other ailments that make walking difficult. When these shoes arrived I couldn't resist my temptation to try them on. I walk a lot and have always had a problem finding shoes that can keep up with my demands for comfort, support, and an outer sole made of rubber. This pair of shoes has a non-slip sole that is described in the listing as being made from rubber but because it's so lightweight and not very dense it feels more like a mix of rubber and plastic. The shoes seem to provide a secure grip on the floor but they are probably not as durable as rubber alone would be. Inside each shoe is a removable memory foam insole that offers some cushioning. Without the insole, I felt a lesser degree of cushioning but I'm not certain either way would be enough lasting comfort for my feet on the long walks I take. The shoes are made with a thin mix of knitted mesh and a stretchy synthetic fabric. Instructions for care suggest machine washing them using a gentle cycle and then air drying. This pair of shoes is all black including the sole which I find very appealing. I can see myself wearing these shoes for almost any casual function. I am able to slip the shoes onto my feet without having to sit or bend down but it could also be that their size, Men's 6.5, is too big for me. I am a woman's size 7, which is one size below this, yet this pair of shoes feels like they are two or three sizes too big. Wearing these shoes around the house feels like walking in slippers. I greatly appreciated that the inside of the shoes were seamless, soft, and without any rough spots of stitching that might cause friction, blisters, or sores. However, there is not enough plushness or padding in the shoes or in the memory foam insoles that makes them feel like they would absorb pressure well or are good at protecting against discomforts such as wearing shoes for too many hours. Like slippers, I don't feel these shoes have enough support at the heels or the arches to provide proper alignment or stability, especially on long walks. Too often I find that shoes, including this pair, that are made to provide soft comfort usually come at the expense of providing support. Focusing on what these shoes do well, however, is that they are nice looking, lightweight, simple to travel with, and an excellent choice to wear for local errands both inside and outside the house. I can't wait to bring these over to my neighbor who will hopefully be thrilled with them. For myself, I plan to look for a women's version of these shoes, although truthfully I could purchase the same pair for myself as they do not look especially masculine or like they can only be worn by men. Other than the size discrepancy they have a generic attractiveness that makes them a good buy for both men and women. ... show more

I ordered these shoes primarily because I needed something lightweight and easy to get on and off without dealing with laces, and they have worked out quite well. The wide toe box and adjustable strap make a noticeable difference, especially if your feet tend to swell throughout the day. The hook and loop closure is simple to adjust and allows for a more customized fit than standard sneakers. The shoes are also surprisingly lightweight, which makes walking around the house or running short errands much more comfortable. The breathable mesh upper helps keep the feet from getting overly warm, and the soft insole provides decent cushioning for daily wear. I am giving them four stars instead of five because they are more functional than stylish, and the support may not be enough for someone needing serious orthopedic structure or long-distance walking.
