Bought to canoe Northern Tier with Scouts this Summer. These are made of a lightweight material that is somewhat soft, stretchy, and quiet to walk in. A few other pairs we've tried are heavier and make a lot of noise. They taper at the calves slightly more than other pants we've tried which I like (others are like bell-bottoms). I wish both side pockets were zippers, but that's not a deal breaker. The zippers that convert these to shorts are small, but worked. There is an additional open pocket on one side that seems useless since anything you put in it would fall out immediately, but the other pockets are functional. I bought 34x30 for a 6ft tall 173lb man and they fit well - maybe slightly tight.

The material is nice, flexible and light weight. Bought these for my husband who wears shorts most of the year but even Florida gets chilly, and he appreciates that the pant leg can be unzipped to become shorts when the day warms up. Fit was true to size. Only drawback is the bottom portion does not have a zipper in the leg and you have to take your shoes off to remove the zippered leg portion of the pants and they're a bit long. I'd give 4 1/2 stars if I could.

These pants would pass for khakis, and can be dressed up a bit accordingly. But they convert easily to cargo shorts. The fabric is lightweight, and comfortable in hot temperatures. They dry pretty quickly as well. I bought and wore them for vacation but they wore well. I can't speak to the long term, but great versatility for travel.

These fit a little snug, but the are very stretchy. They unzipper fairly easily and zip back on smoothly too. Great on the trails for those chilly mornings and warmer afternoons.

Had previously reviewed these pants indicating decently comfortable and lightweight. However finally got to test how “waterproof” they were in a medium rainfall, and found they were not waterproof or water resistant. Material absorbed water, making it feel pretty cold against the skin. Due to thin material they did dry pretty quickly once out of the rain. Good thing for a nice jacket. The attached photo shows how the material absorbed the water after being inside for about 10 minutes.
