He prefers these shorts instead of standard board shorts because there is no mesh like swimming trunks have. They do work well as swimming trunks, fit well as the waist is flexible and the material is similar to board shorts. The shorts are durable and quality material which lasts as expected. I bought these for my husband to wear while on a work trip. I found a nice swim shirt to match for the excursion that was scheduled. All was well until they got wet. These wonderful shorts that match most shirts and look great, while dry, are not lined. Please be a bit cautious and wear some boxer briefs. We have found that gray is a great color for under these swim shorts. Without them, you may attract some attention. As long as you wear something underneath, they really are nice shorts.
