Listen, my daughter loves this puzzle, so overall I have to rate it high. She received it as a gift for Christmas and has played with this one particular toy more than any of the others. She loves the music and learning the different animal names in sounds. This is all great but here's what i'm losing hair over. This song doesn't always respond when you want it to. When you pull a piece out, it won't always start singing the song like it is intended to. It will however, begin singing completely unprovoked right as my daughter is 45 minutes into her 2 hour nap that we so struggle to obtain on a daily basis. My advice - always, always, always remember to turn the puzzle in the OFF mode before putting your child down for a nap unless you want the puzzle to go totally rogue and start playing Old MacDonald when no one is asking it to. That is the end of the review as now I have to attend to my baby who has no chance in finishing this afternoon nap like I so desperately hoped. ... show more

    • It requires LIGHT for music to play!!

Initially, I thought ours was failing like many of the recent reviews. To make sure, I READ the instructions on the back first. I know, you would think instructions aren’t necessary for a puzzle. But what I learned is it won't play if there isn’t enough light for it to tell the piece has been removed. I was able to validate that in low light it won’t play. As soon as I turned the light on/up, it would play. Hope this helps others and it did take me awhile to figure out why it playing music 'seemed' random. Now that we know it needs a fair amount of light, so far so good. Only giving it 4 stars as figuring this out was a bit of a pain. ... show more

My daughter absolutely loves this puzzle, although it can be annoying to hear the songs go off again and again. Fortunately there’s a switch on the back of the puzzle to turn it off and she can play with it without the songs! Only weird thing is that I thought the music would go off when she picked the puzzle piece up instead of it going off when she put it in place. Beautifully made puzzle! Sturdy and thick wood. Love the fact that when you pick up each piece, the appropriate nursery rhyme plays from start to finish. Nice touch. Does NOT come with batteries. Two AAA required. Easy enough to install. There is also an "off" switch on the back. Nicely done.

Pros: Love the idea, art, durability, and noise quality Cons: makes noise when no one is touching it sometimes ( kind of creeps me out sometimes), very sensitive so wrong animal match or touch will trigger noise Overall: would still buy again because it’s pros outweigh cons for me

This puzzle has real life animal sounds. I got it for a one year old which might be a little young...everything goes in the mouth. The dog puzzle piece is a little worn from chewing. This is a good hand eye coordination toy.
