  • Mattel Delivers
Style: Metriacanthosaurus
My first brush with the Hammond Collection was the Velociraptor, which unfortunately has all the flaws of the Amber Collection raptor in a smaller form. However, these medium figures are incredible. The details in the sculpt is incredible, and the amount of articulation is almost perfect. I only have one small problem with this particular figure: the paint job. Don't get me wrong, it's decent. However, Mattel cut a few corners in the paint department. If this is meant to be a collector's line, I would expect more effort being put in the paint department in terms of application and variety. That one complaint aside, this is a really good figure. Solid, lots of articulation, and it looks like it belongs in the Jurassic universe. ... show more

  • A preproduction species gets into the Hammond collection!
Style: Geosternbergia
Geosternbergia is finally getting merchandise 26 years after it was designed, they made one for the legacy collection last year and it suffers from fractured arm bones, and a toothy look. This one for the Hammond collection is a drastic upgrade, it is stated on the back of the box that it is based off of the preproduction maquettes and drawings of Geosternbergia before they changed it to Pteranodon in the final movie. The box claims Geosternbergia has a bigger crest, longer beak and neck than the pteranodon, I'm not sure this is entirely true, they must be comparing it to the Jurassic World pteranodons instead of the Jurassic Park 3 ones. The colors are really natural, I could see a living animal species having the blue all over the back of the torso and tapering off into a white tail, The beak is straight like the maquettes for the Geosternbergia. and all of the claws are painted black. The size is really nice, I was worried of this being an oversized pterosaur since it's in medium sized packaging, it's actually about the right size, it's much better than the oversized roarivore pteranodon they made. The medium sized figures actually have varying sizes, I've seen on reviews the Irritator is smaller than the Corythosaurus. The quality of the paint is a little rough, I have seen before on other reviews that the paint on the joints can rub off quite easily son after getting it, It started rubbing off the wing and neck joints for me almost immediately after I started posing it, and the blue paint on the back is unfortunately rubbing off so I'll have to be careful handling it. The wire in the wing is kind of stiff, and it does have limited range in how much you can turn it up or down, you need to be careful with the rubbery wings because if you bend the wire too far it could break, so I'll give the quality a 3 out of 5 for the paint mostly. The wire is limited to the middle of the wing just above the 3 fingers, and the last 1 and 1/2 inches of the wing tip do not have wire, so it cannot be posed there. The legs have geed articulation though I found it to be awkward to pose the legs even to the ground with the hands, no paint was there to be rubbed off when I posed the legs. The Geosternbergia does have a good range of up and down motion in the neck joints, but I found I cannot twist the neck joint that connects to the torso, only the head. It's still a really cool figure to add to the collection and it's awesome to get another site B animal. ... show more

  • The 22 year wait was worth it
Style: Corythosaurus
This dinosaur had a lengthy cameo in Jurassic Park 3 back in 2001, but sadly was never made into a toy. 22 years after the film came out, and Mattel picks this beautiful dino up and puts it in the spotlight once more, which couldn't have been a better idea. This figure is quite possibly Mattel's best in the Hammond Collection line, as it has plenty of good posability, a fantastic sculpt, a great paint deco, and has one feature that collectors will love: the tail can be removed after being plugged into the body, so you can put it back in the box as if it were mint. I may even get a few more because it was so good. Amazon shipped it nice and fast too, so the the experience was great! ... show more

  • Excellent Addition to a Jurassic Park Collection.
Style: Corythosaurus
I've been waiting for them to make Corythosaurus and this one doesn't disappoint. As a Hammond Collection figure his paint and detail are gorgeous and he has lots of articulation. He scales well with other mainline figures too, like Parasaurolophus and Ouranosaurus. Sometimes getting him to stand stable can be a little tricky in some poses, but an excellent figure! ... show more

  • Sturdy Dinosaur
Style: Concavenator
Our 3 year old grandson picked this out on Amazon and asked me to buy it. The price was right and it is very sturdy. Others I bought for him have lost a jaw or leg during “battles” with other dinos. He loves this Concavenator and takes it to bed.
