This Jurassic World action figure looks cool, has some nice sound effects and is somewhat posable. However, though the roaring/biting actions are a cool feature, it does prevent any type of posing with the mouth and head, to some extent. For the sounds to be played you must turn the round wheel like mechanism on its back, this will also trigger movement from the figure, which depends on which direction you spin the wheel. The sounds themselves are pretty crisp and audible, especially the roar. The spines on the tail do raise when the wheel is spun back while the head rises up to roar. Spinning the wheel forward makes the head go down to bite. The only thing to me that seems to be a bit of a drag is that the mouth is not really too posable, you can't really open the mouth and leave it open without holding the spin wheel at a certain point. This might be an issue for children who just plainly just want to play with the toy, but it can be a bit of a miss for the collector that wishes to display this alongside other figures. The virtual reality app that is promoted is actually quite interesting, it's kind of like a simulation game that allows you to take care of your dino (or any that have been scanned via QR code) as if it were a virtual pet, while also being a catalog of what figures you have collected. It's a nice addition to the physical action figure if I say so myself. Overall, this Jurassic World action figure is cool looking, has some nice sound effects and has some interactive moving parts. And with the extra addition of the virtual aspect, there's quite a bit of activity and fun to be made with this toy. Definitely a good buy for any fan of the Jurassic Park/World franchise, either for play as a toy or as a collectible. ... show more

    • Amazing roar! Great sculpt, mid articulation
I love this sculpt and I'm a huge fan of the dinosaur's roar. It's activated with a little wheel that opens and closes the jaw and moves the neck. Rotating it one way raises the head and makes a long roar, the other direction lowers it and makes a short roar. You can also use the wheel to make it snap its jaws! Unfortunately while the sculpt and effects / action of the toy are incredible the posability is limited by the character's articulation. Not a lot of joints and most of them are controlled by the wheel so you are stuck with a very neutral pose unless the wheel mechanism is engaged and you can't really make it hold any one position. Even posing the legs is more likely to make it fall over than look dynamic. You can't even swap the legs to bring one forward and the other back, they are basically stuck where they are if you want it to stand. It's still amazing but the value is in the action and sound not the dynamic posing. Slightly less suitable for my D&D adventure than I'd like but still very exciting! It's good to have a mix of figure types in your dino collection for different sorts of play. ... show more

    • High end brand of realistic dinos feature sounds, actions and integrated VR features
We are Jurassic World brand dino experts in my house. From the extensive research we've done (read: buying enough dinos to start our own Jurassic Park) we have learned that the Jurassic World line of dinos varies considerably in the features and extras included in its dinos. The first level of Jurassic World line dinos is basically a starter level - these dinos run about $10 each but feature no sounds, action or, most importantly, trackers. The next line up of dinos does features the trackers, and often some type of "battle action," but has no sounds. We've bought a couple of these by mistake, and they have been a disappointment because the sound is really cool feature. Then, there is the final line, of which this incredible Becklespinax (dino deep cut!) is a member. These dinos have multiple action movements via wheels or buttons, roaring noises, AND trackers that pop out of spines or sails on their back. These trackers are the key component in these dinos, as they are effectively QR codes that allow your child to "collect" versions of their physical dinos within the virtual world of the Jurassic World tracker app. Within the app, once you scan your dino's tracker / QR code, your dino shows up in live action in your child's collection, and features a ton of cool ways to interact with it, such as feeding it, cleaning it or repairing wounds, learning about its habits and habitat, and even appearing in VR pictures with it in the background- incredibly cool functionality! This Becklespinax is a must buy because he features about as much functionality as the Jurassic World toy brand can fit into a single dino in its line. He roars, he has multiple actions and movements, AND he features the tracker to integrate him into your child's app. He's also incredibly detailed, well painted, and a very unique addition to any collection that's overrun with the T-rexes, raptors and stegos of more common lineages. This toy is a highly recommend as it offers tons of play value for the price - and will allow your child to start a very interactive and engaging dino collection that can move from living room to screen and back again. ... show more
