    • Great Money Box But Horrible Lock
I purchased this box to use for petty cash at my place of employment. The box works perfect for me. However, I do not use the lock feature. I keep the box locked in a fireproof safe, so there is no need for me to use the lock on the box. If I needed to use the locking feature, I would have returned this box. The lock is junk! Since it came with the box, I was going to use the lock as another level of security. But I am scared that the money will get stuck in the box because the combination numbers are so flimsy. When I first got it, I set the combination, tried it out as instructed, and closed the box. The first time I went to open it, the combination numbers would not spin. When I finally got all three numbers lined up, the box still did not open. It took some slight shifting of the numbers before the box finally opened. I have never used such a crappy combination lock. I expected better, especially from a company like Master Lock. The box itself gets 5 stars. For the cost, it is solid and holds everything as advertised. The money clips seen sturdy. It is exactly what I expected. The lock gets 0 stars. There is nothing good about it, and I would never use it, especially on a regular basis. I don't see it lasting, and it will be extremely frustrating to get your belongings out of the box when it does break. ... show more

I have been looking for a while for a lock bock to use in our office for petty cash. I wanted something with a removable sop so I can put reciepts and notes or high dollar bills underneath. This has exactly what I needed and I also really love the deature that allows the top to store paper bills. This is and added bonus to the others I was looking at. I can make use of every part and I also like that is does not need a key to lock and unlock. It has a code to put in the front as you do on old school briefcases. This helps so I can tell people the code opposed to hiding a key and hoping it does not get lost. Also durable for the value. I would highly recommend this lock bock for small offices needing to lock up cash and money, or even if to use at home to store valuable items. I will probably get another for home. Perfect. I had a older cash box that lasted 15 years every day use at my welding shop I would take it home and to the shop every day the lock would get used sometimes 5-20 times a day. The lock finally broke. I was worried when I had to order a new one. But Master Lock is a good name and I looked at the reviews on this one. So I bought it. It is well built, good strong gauge of metal, the lock is nice and smooth and the bill holder clips are great compared to the old one I had which I can't remember what brand it was. Nice box. Found this one to be smaller in size than others and not too bulky. The bills fit nicely in the slots which wasn't the case with other boxes I tried. You can't put a lot under the removable tray but you can slip a few items like checks or larger bills. Easy to change the combination lock. I love that I don't have to carry a key. No complaints and would purchase again. Very happy with this box. Keep in mind this isn't a safe so it's not super secure but it does do the job as a cash box should. ... show more

I can't believe how difficult it has been to find a decent cash box that dosent cost an arm an a leg. This one isn't too bad. At least the bills fit in their slots without curling up or getting stuck in the hinges.

We use this box for a farmers market and it has done really well. The clips for the bills are secure and strong, letting you move quickly to make change. The metal is as strong as I would expect and the hinge seems to be holding up well. Sturdy and functional, I would highly recommend it.
