  • Amazing eye-catching art and fascinating takes on favorite characters Amazing eye-catching art and fascinating takes on favorite characters
Format: Hardcover
Marvel Anatomy is a stunning book. The descriptions flow, get into charming details, and are fun to read. The art ... will take your breath away. This is a book you’ll want to show off to your friends, whether they’re serious comic book readers and MCU fans, or they’ve never heard of the Hulk. The book is an absolute treat. Full disclosure I have met the artist in person and I've followed his work for years. My reaction to the preorder announcement for this book was to say "of course," and "at last!" Jonah's ability to create and convey realistic anatomy for the most fantastical of characters is one of his superpowers as an artist. (M.O.D.O.K. and Jocasta are two of my favorites so far). The character’s faces in particular are drawn here such that they are immediately identifiable, but presented with a rare dose of humanity and a very welcome individualization that we see in only the best comic book work. Expressions on characters such as Namor, Scott Summers, and Jean Gray show a real understanding of the characters’ personalities and bring our their essence. If you’re a fan of Marvel’s incredible stable of characters, you’ll find them presented here with detailed anatomy, cutaways, and mind-blowing illustrations of key items such as Spidey’s web-shooters. This is a fun book that will be a welcome addition to any collection or coffee table, and it will make an awesome gift for any Marvel fan. ... show more

  • This book is an inspiration for the future of printed and illustrative media, absolutely phenomenal. This book is an inspiration for the future of printed and illustrative media, absolutely phenomenal.
Format: Hardcover
I bought this book adter watching the author's videos on YouTube, and I love it. It's very creative and educational, thanks to it's rich cultural content, detailed and aesthetic anatomy, and impressive descriptions, that demonstrates a great level of care for the lore of each individual that was handpicked from Marvel's roster. ... show more

  • A Must Have
Format: Hardcover
First and foremost, the book itself is breath-taking. Any fan of comics, especially fans of Marvel comics, will truly appreciate the time and dedication that was spent to create this book. From the colorful-yet-anatomically-correct renditions of these characters from a molecular level to their life-like features, no details were spared in bringing these fictional characters to life. The breadth of work in this book is astounding; the illustrator, Jonah Lobe, has created everything from amazing 2D sketches to incredibly detailed 3D video game creations. The dedication Lobe has put into this book shows he is a true Marvel fan. Next is the work of Marc Sumerak and Daniel Wallace. Reading the book from cover to cover, carefully analyzing each word and how they relate to the character at hand reflects a unique take and collaboration that Marvel fans will appreciate. Each character is carefully analyzed and explained in such detail that fans both new and old will appreciate. If you grew up with the comics or the movies, it doesn’t matter because the lore, history, and the very being of each character is tactfully illustrated and plotted out in a way that brings out the characters to their fullest. I hope there is a sequel to this book, as I am eager to read and explore more of Marvel's characters on an anatomical level. ... show more

  • Kid loves it
Format: Hardcover
I bought this book for my son who is an avid drawer. Figuring anatomy books might be daunting or boring, I chose this book. Not only it is interesting and has great illustrations to look at, but it gives an imaginative look at anatomy. He is learning without even knowing it :)

  • A "DaVinci-like" Codex for the powers of Marvel
Format: Hardcover
As a fan of both science and comics, this book is an amazing piece of work. The level of detail in the explanations border on the scientific and the drawings are absolutely phenomenal in this "DaVinci meets Stan Lee" mash up. Highly recommend.

  • Absolutely stunning book. Great for fans and kids with questions!
Format: Hardcover
I've been a Marvel fan since I was 11 years old andI bought Infinity Gauntlet #1. Ever since that day, I've been fascinated by these characters. I've gotten plenty of "profile" books in the past, but this one is the best of them all because it includes scientific reasons for all of the heroes' powers. As a father now, I am trying to introduce my son to these characters as well and as you can guess, he has SO MANY QUESTIONS. Many questions, I might add, that I don't have all of the answers to as I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of these characters despite my love for them. When he wants to know how Human Torch can fly and also not burn himself? This book has the answer! If he wants to know what makes Captain Marvel's muscles different than a humans? Now I can easily answer him. The illustrations are also a sight to behold. Truly gorgeous through and through and I simply can't recommend this book enough. Please consider it as a gift for your budding super hero...or for yourself! ... show more

  • Fun book to add to the Marvel Universe
Format: Hardcover
Pretty good, detailed book on marvel characters with different than normal anatomies. While it is fun, it doesn't feel nearly as in-depth and analytical as the DC version (Anatomy of a Meta-Human). The DC version felt much more like an actual analytical, medical log describing basic bodily functions. The Marvel one, in comparison, feels like it just gives you "he heal good", rather than something like "his red and white blood cells reproduce at twice the rate of the average person and blah, blah, blah". But still a good fun book to delve into some Marvel characters a little better ... show more

  • An absolute must! An absolute must!
Format: Hardcover
This book caught my attention a while back simply for the interesting concept, and I'm so happy to have it in my collection! Such an great idea, a fantastic look at the inner workings of our favourite Marvel characters. If you're thinking about picking this up at all I definitely recommend doing so. The art is absolutely top notch, it's well-written, nice big pages full of information and amazing illustrations. This is great for Marvel fans or fans of art in general. If they made further volumes with more characters I wouldn't hesitate in grabbing them as well. Worth the price. ... show more
