I bought this cutting tool to put down LVP flooring in my living room/dining room, and it saved me a ton of money. It was easy to put together, and take apart for storage. It can be used for cutting a variety of things where you need a clean straight edge. . I even used it to cut off some shoe strings that were too long. It makes a nice clean cut and is easier than using scissors. It serves as a great tool for DIY and crafting as long as the material is not too hard and will fit under the blade. You can cut 45 degrees so if you have some decorative molding that is small enough to fit under the blade. You can make nice clean miter cuts. The honing stone is the perfect size to keep the blade nice and sharp and is a nice addition.

This shear is easy to assemble in a few minutes. The shear performs well with vinyl plank flooring. Cuts are quick and easy. The included sharpening stone and shear lock pin for transport were much appreciated. The only manufacturer design improvement would be a 'ruler scale' on the shear's work bed. Marking each plank's cut line with a pencil or pen slows the job and the mark must be erased if located in an exposed area. Traditional paper shears such as Premier include a 'ruler scale'. It is well built and made my bathroom floor remodel a snap.

I'm not a pro, but I've installed my share of LVT and this tool makes the process much easier and faster than scoring planks. It was easy to set up and cut fine. My only criticism is there is no alignment mark for the cutting blade, so you have to lean over and eyeball the blade and your cutting line. -1 star for that reason. Overall a very good value and a required investment for any job requiring more than a few cuts.

Excellent product. Cuts like butter threw 8mm (22mil) wear layer vinyl plank. the amount of hours saved by not having to constantly score with a utility knife is insane. worth every CENT!!! and it's made by an American company. even better!!!

I just finished (except the 'toe molding') a floor in my basement office. Previously I used to either use a knife to scorch the laminated tile and break, or use some type of saw. For this project I decided to use the Marshaltown Ultra-Lite Flooring Cutter. What a difference! I don't have any mess, all cuts are clean. I do all my cuts where I work, since there is no dirt, no mess, just a loud bang with each cut. It sped up my job a lot. I have attached a picture of the floor and a picture of a piece that I cut with the machine; as you can see it is a perfect cut. Main issue with this tool: the allen key is of a size that is very uncommon, I have maybe 40 different keys in all sizes and none of them fit. Only the Marshaltown cutter. Very annoying since sooner or later it will be lost: there is no really good and safe place to attach it to the tool.
