Know what you’re buying! Amazon’s most annoying feature is grouping reviews of multiple different products together, which is why the reviews for this set are so conflicting. And because Amazon just has one stock photo for multiple sellers, it’s very easy to be duped sometimes! So I’m here to tell you that there are 3 very different box sets of “Mama’s Family” on DVD - what you get with each one, and what you don’t - and you can decide for yourself which you’d prefer: The first set was released by StarVista Entertainment in 2013, and is a 24 disc set which houses the seasons each in their own individual cases. This box set folds out at the front, and the cases lay inside. Included also is 2 bonus discs, each in their own case, and a booklet dubbed “family album”. Every season also includes bonus features. This release was only available online, and is very hard to find these days. StarVista re-released this set in 2016 for wide retailers, but left out the 2 bonus discs; so this set has only 22 discs. The box is pretty standard, it just houses all six seasons individually, and they slide out of the right side of the box like you’d expect. Each season has the same bonus features as the previous set, but the 2 bonus discs and “family album” are excluded here. So this set isn’t as comprehensive, but much more accessible. Now, Warner Bros has released a box set with all 6 seasons as of 2019. This set has all the episodes crammed on 15 discs, and not only excludes all the bonus features found on previous sets, but the episodes are their (edited) syndication versions. Now, these episodes don’t edit out anything too substantial, just 2-3 minutes so they fit the modern 22 minute time slot. But I know people who watched this on TV when it originally aired will feel like somethings missing, and purists/collectors will be very annoyed that even a second was trimmed. The case is just one of those clear, oversized plastic cases, with the discs all inside. It’s a lot cheaper than the other sets, and is the one you’re more likely to find at your local Best Buy or Walmart. I was so excited when this arrived and it even came early in perfect condition. So far the discs have played great and even for its age the episodes still look good on a flat screen. Vicki Lawrence is as hilarious as I remember and it brings back so many memories from when I used to watch it as a kid. And it comes in such a nice case that it doesn't take up a lot of space. The media could not be loaded. Great when it works but many of the episodes on each disc run slow with no sound, despite using different devices to play them and cleaning them. 😢💙

A little disappointed. The last three shows on the last disc of the last season won't play through correctly. The disc seems to be fine but the shows won't play properly in several areas. The picture glitches and shows up pixelated like an old Mario Bros video game. You end up missing a good chunk of the show. Who knows what actually happens in the scenes. ... show more

Love This Show!!!!! I loved it when it first came on and when the reruns use to come on late at night. This was fun humor. You just don't find shows like this anymore. I wanted this box set for the longest but didn't wanna pay the high price. I would check back on Amazon every so often to see if the price went down. Well a week before Thanksgiving I got a "New" set for $114 so I jumped on it. Now I can watch it as much as I want to. ... show more

The quality is often blurry, freeze up and there are episodes out of order. The first few episodes on disc one deal with the son moving back in with his kids and getting married to the neighbor. The second disc started and the son wasn’t married and getting a sham wedding. Oh well..great show! Used to watch it with my family when it was in television. ... show more
