Initial Review July 2023: This is a very basic kit for making moccasins, which is good. The grain leather is soft & pliable. The kit needs improvement, however, in a couple areas. 1) Sharp tools should be used for making the pieces. Not all the holes were thoroughly punched, I had to do that. I also had to trim the fray from a sharp tool not being used to cut the leather in the first place. I also had to cut all the fringe, as the pieces were merely "scored." 2) Longer laces! I bought the M-7/L-9 size & the nearly 30" laces weren't long enough to finish "sewing" the toe top piece. I improvised using 100% mercerized cotton yarn, which also served to add a little personality and a little crochet overhang of the "pucker" holes. Both moccasins finished and they are comfortable. I think they're cute, too. The suede texture I put on the inside, and smooth texture on the outside. As far as I can tell, someone could put the smooth on the inside, or even change up the texture since there are different pieces. The basicness of this kit allows for creative adaptions, which do like. After wearing and seeing how the leather holds up, I'll re-rate from a 3 star. For now, "average" rating will suffice. I hope this review & pictures help. To note: I did expect the cream colored leather kit, as that's what was shown for the "grain" selection. I received a standard brown leather. I wanted the gray/cream color. When I contacted the seller, they said the ad said the item would be in a range of colors. I don't think of cinnamon brown to be in the same color family. Oh well. Also, the instructions were for the suede version, not the grain. In putting it together it was helpful that I had assembled a different kit before. ... show more

I really thought this would be a fun project for the kids but they didn't fit right. The pieces weren't equal so they didn't seem to come together the way they should. The material was ok but we couldn't get them laced tight enough to stay on for one size and the other was too small to come up behind one heel. Guess I'll have to cut my own if we try again. ... show more

These are nice moccasins, the shade is of good quality. Where I took off a star was for pattern assistance. If some has never made moccasins before, they wouldn’t know how to center the shoe toe cover or that the rim edge piece doesn’t fit all the way around. They are a nice project, I do recommend it but be aware that you are going to have to plan out the project before you proceed. ... show more
