The Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system was high quality and relatively easy to install. After installing the system, the car got an honest 3 mpg increase on the highway. The exhaust has a deep tone at idle and there was quite a bit more drone in the cabin than I cared for during acceleration and lower RPM. Noise while cruising at highway speeds is not nearly as bad though. The excess noise is from a straight-thru style muffler that comes with the system vs. a turbo style muffler I really wanted. The problem is that there can be many types of internals in the same style muffler case, so it becomes impossible to tell what kind of sound you're going to get by looking at the case unless it is specifically pointed out. That was not the case with Magnaflow. Negative reviews of such products are rarely allowed either, so you normally buy stuff like this and take your chances. Most street driven machines do not benefit all that much from a straight through muffler vs. a much quieter turbo style muffler and it is so much more pleasant to drive a car that doesn't emit so much noise . . . especially on longer drives. Had the system been coupled with a turbo style muffler with a lower sound level I'd have given it a 5. Had I known the system was going to be so noisy, I wouldn't have purchased it. The way it is now, I'd have to cut the supplied muffler and tips off and re-weld to a turbo muffler. It's a lot of expense and especially when the cost of the original system was nearly $800. ... show more
