I got it in the silver option (nickel plated) and it looks great. My music teacher took it for a test drive and awarded it a “two thumbs up—for a student saxophone”. A saxophone is s machine that shapes sound. This one works well in experienced hands. I’m a complete novice so it is teaching me all about saxophany. It’s built well, sounds good and plays well enough to keep me practicing…and learning. The price made it much less than four months of a good rental sax, (About $300 w/tax)

It's the perfect saxophone for beginners to intermediate, I am a junior in highschool band and I play many instruments. This saxophone has a great sound quality, especially in the lower register. As for the reeds the are 2½, and there are 11 total, 1 comes already put in the mouth piece, and the other 10 are sealed in a box. I would say you might have to adjust your mouthpiece a little further down then normal but that not an issue really. The only thing I could honestly think of as a critique is a better neck strap, it has no padding but it is bearable. It came with everything the package says.

For the price, this was a great saxophone to buy for my 5th grader who expressed an interest in learning the instrument. It was cheaper than renting, and she enjoyed playing it for around a year and a half. However, after that time, the sax started making a weird squeaking sound. We took it to a music shop to repair, but they were not able to fix it. So understand that this is a disposable item, not a quality piece that you'll be able to use for years and years. It served its purpose and got my child through elementary school. Now that they're about to start middle school, they are considering switching to tenor sax, so we may buy another cheap version to repair the broken one so they'll have something to play for end of year concerts and possibly middle school band (if they want to switch between bass and tenor from time to time).
