Description

In searing dispatches, Love, Me is a timely affirmation for Black women in a world that has undervalued them for centuries. "Thee Black woman’s story for this era. It is both political and personal. It is both timely and, quite frankly, overdue." —Sunny Hostin, Emmy Award-winning journalist Will we ever get back the love we give? That’s what millions of Black women are asking. Whether it’s the men in our lives, our experiences in our workplaces, or America itself, the country we built, we are fighting for the consideration, kindness, and respect we are due. Black women are being silenced. Our history is being whitewashed and our contribution downplayed. Efforts persist to reduce our existence entirely. We are fighting for love, our lives, and livelihoods while a burning America continues to stand on our shoulders as it has throughout time. In Love, Me, Cross brings to life the souls of Black women today. In the face of a failing democracy, dwindling opportunity, and elusive love, she tells the story of how we, women of accomplishment and endurance, relentlessly use our humanity to preserve ourselves, our culture, and civilization. Bold and provocative, Cross invites Black women to go from hopeless to hopeful as we fight to achieve our dreams, secure the love we deserve, and preserve the home we built. She argues that we must repair our personhood and society, and that starts with giving ourselves something to believe in. Cross takes us on an intimate journey through the internal and external battles we face, illuminating community and critiquing the politics of being a Black woman today. With a blend of humor, pathos, and hard-hitting cultural analysis, Cross tackles issues like race, relationships, sex, family, economics, health, labor, and love. By bringing Black women to the forefront, she honors not just her story, but our story. Read more

  • Powerful, Inspiring, and Exceptionally Written
Format: Hardcover
This book is nothing short of exceptional. Tiffany D. Cross writes with honesty, compassion, and courage, creating a powerful message that speaks directly to Black women while offering lessons that everyone can learn from. Love, Me is empowering, thought-provoking, and deeply affirming. It addresses the unique challenges Black women face in our country, careers, and relationships while encouraging us to protect our peace, know our worth, and never apologize for taking up space. I found myself highlighting passages and reflecting on my own experiences throughout the entire book. As an African American woman, I felt seen, understood, and encouraged. At the same time, I believe this book should be read by people of every race and background because it provides valuable insight, promotes empathy, and inspires meaningful conversations. This is one of the best books I've read this year. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for wisdom, encouragement, and a fresh perspective. Five well-deserved stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐📚💜 ... show more

  • Raw and unfiltered. Best read on my summer list.
Format: Kindle
As much as I loved watching Tiffany Cross on Saturday mornings, "Crossfire", I feel the same way about her book. Never one to shy away from the difficult topics, she shares her personal and professional journey in a raw, unfiltered, brutally honest and vulnerable way that the readerwill find connection professionally, personally and spiritually. The book explores the balancing act between our own desires and society's reality. Our fears and strengths. Of unrequited love and broken dreams. It draws you in, captures your attention and causes a deeper self-reflection. We can all see ourselves woven throughout the pages of this book, whether its painful childhoods, careers denied, or devastating heartbreak. It is a great "comeback story" from a real fighter. I have been recommending it as a summer reading to everyone in my circle. There's a great deal to learn about our personal journey in this one. ... show more

  • A Great listen
Format: Audiobook
Whoa I definitely enjoyed this Audiobook Tiffany gave the honest truth of how we as Black woman are disregarded and under appreciated in a Country and World we helped build and continue to do till this day. The way Tiffany spoke of her unpaid appearances on Networks was insane in my opinion using journalist for views but they don't get paid is far beyond me. The struggles with showing up as her true authentic self seemed to make others feel small which is pretty common but I was shocked to listen to the ways people tried to end her career just to prove we can do what we want and you have no choice but to accept it or leave. Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for the ALC all opinions are my own. ... show more

  • Outstanding!
Format: Audiobook
Outstanding! Engrossing! I couldn't stop listening. It touched my soul on so many levels. I have a deeper level of respect for Ms. Cross, after this book. And having the audiobook spoken in her own voice, made it even more special. I will now have to purchase the hard copy.
